My method is to first wash down by sponge with hot water with a bit of fairy liquid added to get the worst of the dirt off (wash down the frames at same time), use a rubber bladed squeegee to quickly remove the surface water, few squirts of windowlene (tried other cheap brands but usually end up with smears), wipe over with a disposable cloth then buff after a minute or two with a microfibre cloth. I usually get to the applying windowlene stage on the first window before doing the same to the second window by which time the first window is ready to buff.

Debt_free_chick, i've said this before elsewhere, e-cloths are just branded microfibre cloths at nearly 3 times the price. We just get Tesco-own one's which are fine - think they are a few quid for two as OH bought some more the other week. We've got 4 now which is just about enough for all our needs around the house - can be washed again and again (but don't use fabric conditioner on them - usually chuck them in with some biological washing powder on a hot wash - helps clean our the washing machine too!).
