H.C.I.Y.H book says after washing windows with soapy water solution, buff up with vinegar and kitchen towel (distilled white vinegar)

Also one part distilled white vinegar to nine parts water in a spray bottle, spray sparingly on to the glass and either buff with paper towel or traditional scrunched up newspaper. The print on the paper adds to the shine and it's cheap. Wear rubber gloves to stop print getting on hands!

Very dirty windows use a bowl of warm water with a little washing-up liquid - dry with lint free cloth or chamois.

I invested in a lambswool type cleaner and a wiper blade like profesional window cleaners use.

Firstly get a cheap spray bottle thing around 60p at wilkinsons

Put 50% white distilled vinegar in it, 50% water and a few drops of washing liquid and shake. Spray on window, rob off a window blade and dry round edges of windows with microfibre cloth.

I get mine from Wilkionsons, home bargains and dunelm mills some are less fluffy than others
  • I've always found Windolene pretty good. Cheap to buy, and what I particularly like is that you can see whether there's any left on the window as you're rubbing it off, so it tends not to leave streaks.

Find an old spray bottle add 5mm of dishwasher rinse aid and a few drops of washing up liquid then fill right up with water. Shake well and spray a little on.
Polishes off really easily and gives a lovely streak free shine.

After you have applied the water/vinegar solution and rubbed all over to clean it, do you use a squeegy first and then the newspaper to dry or just newspaper straight on?
