ASDA voucher policy

I've just been to ASDA and I am *SO* mad I had to post :mad:

I handed in a Sainsburys voucher and she would not take it because they "only take Tesco". So I handed her a 50p off Weetabix one and she said I couldn't have it off because I didn't buy it! :mad: After reading this board I thought ADSA take sainsburys vouchers and any product they stocked?!

So I just paid full price for my shopping for the first time in ages. I'm so angry. I normally go to Sainsburys and only went to ADSA to get rid of the Sainsburys vouchers (for things I don't buy) before they went out of date. I have used them before in ASDA, but I have only ever used self-scan before. I wish I had used self-scan today :mad:

Maybe I should get a life and get over it :rolleyes: but I want to complain. Is their voucher policy written down anywhere and does anyone know an email address I can complain to?

It varies so much with every member of staff you speak to and I can't be bothered with the hassle so I only use self scan now.

Just for information, my Asda store has NEVER taken Sainsbury's or internet vouchers. They have taken the £* off £** type before, but only occasionally.

Not sure about the National policy, but the best way to find out is to approach Customer services in that store and ask what their policy is. As with Tesco, it does differ in different stores.

Yes I must agree with my friend above, Rambler, I always shop at Tescos but really wanted a dress I had seen at Asda Cardiff Bay so I phoned in advance to check their voucher policy. They do not accept internet vouchers but will happily take 3 of the same voucher up to 10% of the total bill. Then when I went there with my vouchers I felt confident that I wouldn't have any problems and if the cashier had refused I would have referred them to the CS person who I had spoken to the phone.

As it was I had £5.00 off my bill - but I do think as with Tescos that it can vary from store to store - welshy x

Do any supermarkets accept online vouchers? I know this may should a dumb 'ol question.

There is a difference between online and internet vouchers. I doubt any supermarkets take online vouchers (i.e. spend £50 online and get £5 off), but lots take internet vouchers (i.e. vouchers you have printed off the internet).

Yet alot of stores do not take internet coupons anymore for this very reason

My local asda used to accept the vouchers from the back of the sainsburys magazine (in december alone I bought 5/6 magazines and had a total of approx £75 off my shopping. By carefully selecting the 'right' checkout assistant, I often used vouchers up to 90% off the value of each shop!

From January they informed me that their national policy had changed, and that they would no longer accept any of these vouchers, and definitely no more than 10% worth of other vouchers on each shop.

I now shop at tesco, where I can get a lot of r&r, but does anyone know if they accept sainsburys vouchers? Have tried and been refused in 1 store.

This store also refused to accept internet vouchers, with the excuse that they could have been photocopied rather than printed, and that the bar codes (where present) wouldn't scan.

The fact people can print lots of them isn't a reason for the supermarkets not to accept them - they get a handling charge and the money back from the manufacturers.

The reason that internet coupons are not accepted (by many places) is because they can be easily forged and it's hard for checkout operators to judge if they are genuine or not. Obviously the supermarkets may not get reimbursed for forged coupons if the manufacturer susses that they are forgeries.
