Would you call police

Options
My wife has just been to the chemist to collect my prescription,to her horror they have given it to someone else, they shouted my name and address twice, and someone came forward to collect it.
When my wife came back into the shop and asked for it,they realised there mistake, the problem is they don't know who they gave it to and it's a carrier bag full of morphine, amitriptyline, dihydrocodeine and other dangerous drugs.
The pharmacist was in a flap,do you think the police should be called due to the nature of the drugs and the fact my name and address are all over it.

The pharmacist probably has a set procedure in these circumstances. In effect drugs have been stolen from the pharmacy.

    Yes, panic!!!!
  • I would ring the police helpline- you can google your local number. It's a non emergency number who are usually very helpful!

I would, if it was me. You don't want to get done for supplying!

    yes TBH I would
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!
  • Personally I would immediately close the shop, arrest those responsible and throw away the keys

I'm not surprised she was crying - that is a very serious matter, especially in view of the drugs you had been prescribed. They should have records that enable them to make a shortlist of possible people who received the drugs, unless of course they weren't waiting for a prescription at all. I would report it to the police in view of the drugs involved.

    Very professional!

What on earth were they doing, shouting our name AND address?! How do they check they are giving the correct products to the right person if they don't even do a simple "and what is your address?" check - which they obviously didn't in this case!

I would contact the police, if only to make sure that the pharmacist has informed them. I would hope she has, for the reasons you give!

Out of interest - have you now been given your drugs?

You need to report this immediately as a criminal offence has been committed and the culprit is now in possession of controlled drugs which is also an offence. There is a strong likelihood that these drugs may be supplied to other persons. The culprit needs to be caught and it is quite possible that he has been doing this in other chemist's. He got lucky this time!! I am sure the chemist should be able to give a good desrcription and should have it on CCTV. Good luck.
