Right, first of all, uncomfortable footwear is a woman thing. Don't know why all you women do it, but "It was really uncomfortable in the shop but it looks good, so I bought it." is not something men say. Any man's shoes that are uncomfortable in the shop do not sell well - after all any shoe that looks good, can be made comfortable to wear.
So, what you need to do, is next time you're in a shoe shop is to go to the men's section, and look at the "less masculine" men's shoes. They do exist, they're not something I'd buy, but they are comfortable (according to XOH at least) and they don't look like blokes' boots.

Would definitely agree with Macgirl re putting on lippy and having a nice haircut. I have recently realised that is what is dragging me down. I always spent money on my hair. Since moving here I cant find a decent hairdresser so gave up. I now have two,no three, tone hair being my natural haircolour, grey and growing out caramels. No shape and having seen photos of myself realise that I look like my Mum when I was always telling her to get her hair done! I recently invested in a Clinique lipgloss - carry it with me put it on and I feel magic.
Talk of uncomfortable shoes reminds me of the episode in Friends where she buys very expensive boots and insists on wearing them even though they are so uncomfortable and Chandler ends up carrying her. Loving all this clothes talk...very exciting and scary at the same time.
KC you definitely carry colour well ...including the pants...this is why I thought the ted baker top is you.you have a nice figure and could carry most stuff off.
my hair is now growing back but very grey and still very very short..I've put loads of weight on and nothing will look good on me at the moment but a couple of months down the line I'll be able to have my hair done and will fit better into some clothes..hopefully in 12 months I can look a 1000 times better.0 -

Taxi, the clothes talk is still scary for me when I think about carrying it out, tho thank you for saying I carry colour well
I see EH identifies with the scary bits too - yes, I'm trainers and a comfy warm coat too ... good grief!
Well, its not enough to be debt free! We need to learn how to live our lives, and make the most of everything - and that means everything, the most of who we are, where we live, what we have, what we can do.
I felt well enough this evening to start to fiddle about with a huge wodge of material I bought years ago to make a curtain - wide beige stripes, with the effect of being hand made. Cut it in two, I've mostly sewn it down the middle to make one curtain (it'll be a floor to ceiling curtain, so thats quite a lot!). There's a cheapo curtain on Wilkinson's site, several I think, but I don't think the heading tape would be right and various other little problems. But most of all, I'd have to pay money out for something I already have the makings of, and if I bought a new one, I'd still be storing this material to no purpose! So I'm making it from what I've got. I'm still having coughing fits, several a day, but I'm more or less on the mend, thank heavens.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Curtain making sounds interesting.
you are right about learning to live our lives and make the most of them...I seem to have lost myself the last few years but intend to find myself again in 20110 -
Using up something you already have, we like that. Especially if its something you bought because you liked it.
What sort of curtain track do you have and where are the curtains for? That can make a lot of difference to how you hang them. you may not need fancy 3" deep header tape.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Morning! I think I do need the fancy 3" tape, tbh - I already have some tho, not to worry
the curtain is to block off the view of the office from the route clients will take to get to the new loo. The curtain track is that Solaglyde stuff, and it hangs from a batten on the ceiling that the builders put up for me - this was always the plan, Wol and I talked it through when she came round when I first moved in.
I feel well enough for a little to-do list today! Basics - carrying on with that curtain, wrapping my mum's tree pressies as she's coming down today (not to me! to my sister), I hope to be able to go into town and take back that huge duvet I bought, discretion being the better part of valour2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Just popping on to say hi. I was drawn here by all the clothes chat. Could natter about lippie, frocks and self esteem all day but alas I need to go to work for one more day before I break for new year. Looking forward to the new diary KC, I need a wee update on you as I have things in my head about you that I'm now wondering if I made up/are about someone else! I'm doing Van Gogh too and have been working on my stuff for that. Back later. X'The road to a friends house is never long'0
