I've decided to put into practice the whole "trusting the universe" thing - last time I really really did it, it worked, tho not in the way I thought. So - and I know this sounds very little - I booked 3 days at the travelodge in Ely for a little away break next March (holidays every 3 months - but I've only been back to Liverpool for years). Didn't get the £9 rooms released today, they were £22 a night, but thats okay. Ely is a cathedral city, near Cambridge that I've never been to, and also near Baldock, which is where my dad was born, weirdly, so its a plus plus plus. And on the journey to/from I may well end up in Norwich again
Really didn't sleep well last night, but I only have to do one hour paid work today, so I'll have a little snooze after that. And then to the accounts, in all seriousness, I need to get them done and dusted. Cuppa tea first tho.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning.. great trip you've got planned there Karma - have stopped off in Ely briefly and it's lovely!
Re the food thing.. did anyone watch the series about E numbers a couple of months ago? I was particularly interested as I used to have quite violent reactions to tartrazine as a child. Obviously hard to know how neutral the programme was but some very interesting 'things I didn't know' including the fact that naturally occurring glutamates could have the same effects on people as MSG. I have quite mixed feelings about food - my instinct is to go for the most natural non-adulterated products, but I can see the logical points about some processing being just another step on from cooking, fermenting, preserving with salt etc..Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Hi Squizz - no, I didn't see it, I still don't have my tv operating .... but I used to have that E numbers book, and checked each item before I bought it (and then gave up with anything but fresh, it was dreadful!) I've just thrown out an emergency pack of mushroom cupasoup I bought for the move - I read the ingredients, and they were dreadful. It makes room in the cupboard for things I *do* want as well.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I must admit I do like the saying "don't eat anything your grandparents wouldn't recognise as food!"Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: thats really funny! Luckily one set of my grandparents were very modern for their times, so I'm okay with that
my grandad worked on the docks in the war, and he used to ... purloin .... oranges for his kids.
EDIT - oh, and I've just done [strike]what I hope is[/strike] my last mystery shop ever - booked it ages ago, it was just an envelope report ....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Well done booking yourself a little break :j :j
Do you know, WHEN I get this full time work next year (:rotfl:) I think one of the things I might do is bring back our little weekends away system :j We used to go every couple of months, and we'd take turns organising it as a surprise for the other oneWe had some lovely weekends away :j :j Sometimes we just stayed in the van, sometimes booked a cottage somewhere and did all our own cooking, so it was never *that* expensive, but sadly we've been being far too frugal for it to have happened the last couple of years and I've really missed it.
Going to have to have a good think so that I don't make plans for *all* of my new wages that then means I don't get to save anything at all and *have* to work full time forever, but I think £500 a year for a few weekends away would be a very good investment indeed :j :j
Thanks for the idea! :j :j0 -
I remember you talking about your breaks, Cheery, they do sound brilliant. In booking the break, I'm confirming to the universe that my second income stream, the trading, will be well up and running by then. And its long been one of my ideas for how I'd like my life to be - three good holidays a year, and a monthly weekend break when I'm not going away.
And I've just seen your new sig :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:brilliant2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
