Thanks, I could do that but blimey, that's a lot of work, expense and hassle just to watch a 7" TV. I'm happy to buy another charger and do it the hard way!

The "switched loft" version took less than an hour to do and cost less than 10 x AA rechargeable batteries.

Just using a bedroom socket and extending the 12v DC cable is a simple as buying one and laying it underneath the carpet(s)

The Gloucester staples regularly has a table of reduced items. For example, toners for £8, phones for £5-10 and a printer at £40 from £99 rrp.

Got the last one at the Harlow Staples and used the £5 voucher I got a week or so ago for a previous purchase of >£30 to came to £44.99 - bargain!

Next question is to find a freeview box with composite video out phono jack and also sound out phono jack(s) so I can connect it to it - any suggestions?

Do you have any more details on this ?
Only I can't find it on their website, not on any of the Tchibo displays in my local Somerfields and does not feature in the latest brochures.

It's on THEIR website now . Available from 17th May.

Personally I can't find it on the website (I'm obviously pretty thick), so went into the store and was told they will be in on May 17th, and be there early! They won't "hold" any as they don't know the quantity coming in. Am hoping the sound will be better than the Staples one, which I found very shrill to listen to.

These units will be redundant for portable use when digital switchover happens so aren't very good value really.
