Advice regarding a pregnancy and failed vasectomy

How terribly sensible! Like I said, I'm sure I never have. I've still got my patient information leaflet from the coil, and I'm sure it would be with that, if I'd been given a copy. Plus I've still got medical paperwork from the brain surgery, ditto.
Next time, if there is a next time, I shall ask for a copy!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

What I can tell you, for certain is that before you have the op (at a meeting that your husband would have attended) they talk through the procedure, book you in for a certain date, and you sign to say that you know it's not a 100% bullet-proof form of contraception.
How many tests have you had so far and how many before they decide it hasn't worked?"There is a light that never goes out"0 -

So far every time they've written to me, they send me back a form telling me that I've still not produced 2 consecutive samples that have been clear - and they need 2 consecutive clear samples before they'll give me the all clear.
Samples are produced and sent away with a 2 week time difference in between them (If I remember correctly!).
At the moment, I've sent away 4 x batches of 2 samples.
The op was November and the initial samples were produced 16 weeks and 20 weeks after the operation.
They're never very quick at getting back to me - the last sample that I sent away was at the end of July and i'm still waiting for the result of that sample. If this follows the same course, I'm waiting for my FOURTH letter telling me that I'm not clear, and I guess I'll receive 2 more pots to produce more samples.
I don't know how many samples I have to produce before they say "enough is enough, it's not worked".
For now, we're still "taking precautions"......................
Samples are produced and sent away on the given date that they specify.0 -
this info i posted was on the nhs website, it's their own words.. i was trying to find info about how effective/not effective it was, no contraceptive is 100% apart from (harsh) a complete hysterectomy
I wasn't referring to your quote from the NHS website I was referring to your assertion that the OP would not be entitled to a no win no fee agreement for any legal representation.
As I have stated even if you are a doctor or a lawyer you simply do not have the information you need to assess whether there may be a case here.0 -
No the majority of people are not given copies of consent forms to keep - they are stored in your NHS notes.
No procedure or medication is 100% effective.....No doctor would ever claim or suggest that would be the case.
I cant believe the number of people that just want to seek compensation from the NHS - we receive generally good care for no direct cost - procedures and medication which cost £1000s of pounds. Yes, nothing is 100% effective and i am truly sorry that your case is one of those minor few that life plays a twist in - consider your options which hopefully wont involve depriving others of treatment on the NHS!
DH was given a copy of his consent form to keep following his repeat knee surgery in February. I believe this is happening more and more frequently.
Increasingly, surgeons spend much more time discussing the ins and outs of proposed surgery than formerly was the case. Nothing can ever be guaranteed. Having said that, I agree with SavvySue that often people do not 'hear' what is said, or do not take it on board. That's psychology - it's possible to hear only what one wants to hear.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0
