Hi,
Me and my girlfriend are living together while at university.
We are looking for broadband internet plus line rental.
From what I understand, in order to use broadband bt line rental is required.
That is about 11.50 or so from bt? Is it possible to get it any cheaper as we are both in full time education?
I am thinking about the existing customer deal with 02 for £7 ish per month
which I can used the 3 month free plus £50 cash back with quidco.
Preferably I am looking for a download allowance big enough to download a couple of films per week and watch youtube videos which the mobile broadband is not good for.
We do not require a telephone to make calls just broadband.
There are phone sockets installed in the flat in the bedroom and living room / kitchen but do I need to pay a bt installation fee or anything? Reconnection fee? Etc.
The flat is brand new so would a new line connection fee with bt be required?
Thank you.

hi
have you tried virgin media?
if it is available in your area, you can get optical fibre connection that does not require a base connection such as BT
I was to pay about £30 for 20 meg broadband plus tv and telephone (which I didnt use much) - but there are cheaper connections.
They come and install it free for you, but you have to type in your postcode or phone them up to see if you are in the catchment area
hope this helps0 -
Thanks.
I entered my post code and this appeared: -
You're not in a fibre optic area, but can still get our brilliant broadband down your phone line.
I was really impressed with the package as 10mb and no bt fees. £20 per month for broadband alone.
If I was to go ahead with that deal even though it is not fiber optic how much slower would the broadband be?
Thanks0 -

No he is being offered Virgin National Broadband and they can connect new lines themselves. I am not sure though if they cater for completely new builds.0 -

If you can't get Virgin cable then you need a BT line, period.
The O2 offer is a good one but it only applies if you are on a O2 LLU exchange, check on samknows.com for your LLU availability. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Why not try sky? Ok you will have to sign up for the basic package (not sure if you're interested) but it's £16.50ish a month, u get free broadband and the line rental will be cheaper than BT, not by much but it's something. U will still need a BT line tho. There is/was a free offer, see details on this site, is it still available anyone know cuz I want it if it is! U also get a £50 tesco voucher if you sign up this month or you could get a friend with sky to recommend u and get whatever they are offering this month and your friend gets a freebie too.0

Sky Basic is very basic-it's a capped 2MBps speed and only 2GB per monthly download. To upgrade to a reasonable package is an extra £5.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You would also need permission of the landlord to install a Sky dish on any rented property, and the permission of the freeholder or managing agents if it's a leasehold flat.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
