    Thanks for that. Have duly made note of recipe for onions with Parmesan and cream - thats my sorta combination.

    I like my cheese sauce I do - but actually even precise/pedantic ceridwen is here thinking "I reckon I can take a leaf outa his book".

    So - I've been doing dinner tonight from what I have and - bearing in mind I like any excuse for a cheese sauce - I've steamed some brown rice with chopped-up onion in and then put some mixed steam veg. (in this case carrots/broccoli/cauliflower) on top of that, then that there cheese sauce and then a handful of salted nuts - and 'tis nice...it is...:beer:

    tonights meals looked yummy, especially the noodle soup with prawns.

    Have you read Nigel's book 'Toast'? It's all about his childhood and the stuff they ate. It's very nostalgic. The picture of him as a little boy on the front is him to a tee.....he hasn't changed much! Anyway, it's a good read, and quite touching in places.
