Ecco Shoes - They rot whether you wear them or not!

i purchased a pair of ecco lightweight summer trainers, the suede split where the toe fold naturally occurs, contacted ecco given their supposed customer satisfaction. totally uninterested and actutally suggested that they only had a six month life span. I'd never buy ecco again as this seesm to be the only action that manufacturers understand.0

I have had four pairs of Ecco shoes with disintegrating soles.
Two pairs of Ladies shoes in White where the soles simply crumbled to dust leaving white powder wherever you walked.
A pair of ladies shoes in black, split open at the heal.
A pair of Men's shoes became sticky and lumps of the sole simply fell away.
I have written to Ecco but don't expect much success seeing how badly the company is responding to the problem.
It is obviously a problem of chemical composition of the synthetic sole material.
I worked in the shoe industry for many years and I warn Ecco if they do not address customer complaints then they will suffer a loss of loyal customers.
I have seen similar problems in the past where the company failed to respond to customer complaints with the result it ruined the company.
I for one will not be buying any more Ecco shoes no matter how comfortable they are.

I had a pair of ecco walking boots hardly worn and the soles fell off.
Today I put some ecco sandles on which I have had a few years and not worn more than twice as they hurt my feet. I thought I would try and wear them in the house, the soles felt tacky and after a few hours the soles just disintegrated and fell off. Good job I was at home!
Both of these shoes are expensive. I have had a lot of ecco shoes before and they have lasted a long time. I will not be an ecco customer again.

i had a pair of ecco lightweight shoes that split after very little wear, so i contacted ecco who were very dismissive and stated that the life expectancy was 6 months anyway. not what i expect from expensive shoes so never buying ecco again if thats their attidude.0

Ooh, I'm glad to see this thread again. I bought some Ecco sandals last summer and have worn them less than half a dozen times, on very short trips. Last week I got them out of the box and noticed that the stitching has come away on one of them, from the side to the sole. I'm not going to bother contacting Ecco, but for a pair of sandals costing over £70 I am less than impressed!0

I have just noticed that the soles of my Ecco shoes have disintegrated. In this country it is no good approaching the manufacturer as your contract is with the shop that sold them and it may be worth taking the shop to the Small Claims Court. In my case I bought them while on holiday in the Lofoten Islands so it would be a bit expensive taking them back!0

My ecco ladies lace-ups are in their seventh year - I kid you not - they are the only pair of outdoor shoes I own. I have MS and my walking has deteriorated faster than the shoes... Just thought I'd put in a word for rather than against! Oh and my 87 year old mother has had her most recent pair for five years, wearing them every day. Never heard of them disintegrating before, this stuff is just weird0

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to add that you can get shoes/boots that last a reasonable amount of time for that amount of money.
I bought a pair of New Rocks for £130 in 1998. After fifteen years of pretty much constant use, the only thing that needs mending on them are the zips (which can be done, I've just haven't got round to it)..
Having said that, they weigh about a stone each and are probably not for everyone.

In what celebrity filled Hollywood boulevard do you live where normal people pay £375 to £1375 for a pair of "real" shoes as you like to refer to them?
Regarding who doesn't know that rubber degrades? Another cutting one, but I reiterate that paying in excess of £100 for a pair of shoes should get you decent quality. The original ones lasted many years REMEMBER - same shoes, same soles ...
Buy some real footwear with replaceable soles you say. Lots of these offers about, I will rush out and get some right now. I am sure they will have a style and size to fit me!
Unfortunately most consumers do not want to pay for quality, durability or repairability, you say - well actually I think many would, if the manufacturers actually delivered a quality product rather than just making lots more profit selling the same old tat at higher prices.
It is the choice of each shopper what they spend their money on and if cheap tat is your thing, go for it. I do not consider £130 cheap tat.
KIM has a very valid point, the majority of shoes priced £150 and under are simply consumables. There is a world of difference betweens shoes.
I have found that if I spend £50-60 they usually last me a year, if I spend £200-£350 I can get them to last 5yrs plus, my record is 18 yrs and still going strong for a pair of handmade brogues bought in Northampton which were £800!. I didnt pay as I was best man to a friend marrying into  money.0 -
After careful consideration, I made an 'investment' purchase in the pair of Ecco Walking boots for very occasional use. Unfortunately due to on-going health issues they have only been worn approximately six times in the last eight years; if even that. Yesterday I went with friends when I felt something 'flapping' underfoot. When I looked the sole had come off my Ecco boots! The same thing occurred with the other boot after another two steps. I am shocked to say the least that a pair of £100+ walking boots that have been cared for and definitely not used to remotely constitute 'normal wear & tear' have disintegrated.
I searched and am perturbed that others too have experienced similar without any resolve from Ecco themselves.
NEVER will I purchase Ecco footwear again & definitely could not recommend.0
