Hi Simon Young
Yes my other eye is OK - albeit it was over corrected, (so I still need glasses).
I have had my 'bad' eye lasered 3 times in an attempt to correct the double vision, initially it solved it, but over a period of 5 years it has gradually returned, there are only so many times you can have laser, (depends on the thickness of your cornea), so after 3 attempts and numerous visits, I decided to call it a day!
There are two possible reasons why double vision can occur:
The scar tissue at the boundry of the laser action can heal with a slightly different refractive index, as this layer is not likely to be of uniform thickness or area, different parts of your eye will refract slightly differently and thus focus on different parts of your retina, hence the double vision.
Second possible cause is the laser does not burn off a uniform layer from your cornea, ie an irregular surface is left, as above this can focus the image in different places on your retina.
A contact lens can help in the second case as this covers the irregular surface and tears will fill in any depressions under the lens.
So this is in fact what I have to do! (if I could rewind time of course I would not have had it done). Anyways if you are thinking of having it done please read my previous post on the subject, as one who has been through the mill, I feel I can speak with some authority.
Thanks for your interest

I have 2 good eyes, albeit using contact lenses, there is no way I am going pay someone to fire lasers into them in the hopes that I could get the same level of vision as I have with the contact lenses.
It takes very little effort to put disposal contact lenses in when I need them and to take them out and throw them away at night.0 -
4.Having done extensive research, the Internet contact lens outfit that I can thoroughly recommend is:
http://www.daysoftcontactlenses.com/GB/CountryHomepage.aspx
£9.98 for a months supply delivered, (they do two and three month deals as well).
The lenses are daily disposable and I really can not feel it is in.
Check them out
