just about everyone is doing a free contact lens trial... i have had free trials with d and a, asda and specsavers..... why don't you enquire about it, never say you are not going to sign up, you tell them at the end when you have a prescription and when you are happy with the vision you get with it.....

I get my lenses from a site called contactlenses.co.uk and they are one of the cheapest for my particular lens. But I have to say although I have been tempted to get my daughter's lenses on line I have resisted cos I think at this young age they need constant checks with an optician. Also, in my daughter's case, her prescription used to change so much that her lenses were being altered every six months. If you buy online you are stuck with the ones you have already bought whereas with a contract they will replace the ones you have bought with the new ones.

As I mentioned above this has all changed now cos daughter is on orthok lenses and very happy with them.

Ive used https://www.visiondirect.co.uk for a few years and they've never asked for a prescription. Prices are really good and they've previously let me exchange a box of lenses for stronger ones, when my prescription changed.

Hey, since I haven't really thought about contact lenses (ever), I've found that my eyes are getting worse over time. And since I don't wear my glasses all the time it's becoming more of a problem, for example when out in nightclubs it's quite hard to see. My eyes are good when up close, but they're pretty bad when far away. I can see stuff but not pick out details (i'm sure you know what I mean).

Anyway, my problem is my eye problems are caused by being on the PC a lot, and since I can't wear my glasses when at the PC (it hurts my eyes) i'm in a lose lose situation. I've tried sitting further back, and tried to find an optimum range but I just can't.

So does anyone know if contact lenses would help my situation? Also what kind of lenses are the best?

Since i'm just about to go to uni, money is a premium and need to know the best solutions around. I would also like to know about performance, such as what activites can I do with them? (boxing being my main concern) I need some durable one's and would prefer some 24/7 one's but if they're impractical or too expensive then I could posssibly get by with some disposables, wearing them at a premium (like I do with my glasses). Don't get me wrong, i'm not embarrassed about the glasses or conscious (as it's starting to seem) I just don't feel I need to wear them constantly.

Went on a bit of a rant there so to summarise;
Would contact lenses be suitable to use at a PC even though glasses seem to strain my eyes?
Which are the most cost effective one's that fit into my lifestyle (boxing and student)?

Any other information would be greatly appreciated, thanks *phew*

I use a pc for work all day and could not use glasses at workstation.

i found that the contracts that u keep in for 30 days are the best because they dont seem to dry up so much when using monitor for long times.


next month gonna go do lazer tho so hopefully no more contracts

Hey I've booked myself in for an appointment on tuesday for a full eye test (was due one) and a contact lens test right after.

Do you know if I'll get my lenses straight away (if i'm compatible) and if I have to have the one's from by specsavers, or can I take the knowledge of the type of lens I need and shop about somewhere?

I don't mind spending a premium rate for the first few months to get used to them, but it's money I'll be spending which I don't have anyway.

Depends whether they have your prescription in stock or whether they have to order it.
I got mine there and then and I would hav thought this is more usual but if you have an unusual prescription they might have to order them for you.

No you don't but bear in mind you'll need to pay for solutions (if applicable), aftercare and I thik there is a £20 fee for the trial if you don't buy their lenses so make sure you add up all the costs before deciding.
Specsavers do an aftercare package for £36 per year and you can buy lenses from their on-line site.

If you want to buy elsewhere then you will need a prescription.
You can buy on specsavers site without this because they will have your details already.

I have no connection to specsavers but it seems sensible to me to buy from their site and get their aftercare package (which seems pretty good for £36).

The "knowledge" of your lens type will not be enough.
You will need a proper prescription.
Reputable sites will not sell you lense without checking your prescription.

You shouldn't be spending money you don't have, but I don't think you'll get them much cheaper than specsavers on-line site.
