Just waiting for my friend to arrive then we're off for a bit of baby massaging... Caitlyn has, in the very best baby tradition, waited until she was all nicely bathed dressed and strapped into the car seat.... Then filed her nappy spectacularly!
Anyhoo... I was 23 when I had my first smear but they hadn't changed the rules then... My second to last one had abnormal cells and I had to go for a colposcopy... Not exactly pleasant... But I'd much rather go through that than anything worse...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I'd definitely advise people to have a smear. I had a routine one which showed abnormal cells. I had a biospy and they were not cancerous, but they froze them off anyway just in case. I had no symptoms and no idea anything was wrong down there. Here I go again on my own....0

Does anyone know what this kind of seat is called?
Aaron loved it at a baby group yesterday, and I can't find anything like it to buy. It's a firm (but squishy if leaned on) foam curve, covered in fabric, has a strip of fabric across the front and a layer of fabric across the bottom to sit on. The ladies who run the group don't know where it was from or what it is called as it was donated to them. I've seen the inflatable type seats and the bumbo seat but would prefer this instead.
Anyone know what it might be called or where I could find one? Spent hours looking on the internet (searching for anything I thought it might be called or describved as) and various online shops/ebay but no luck yet.
Edit: Ok I can't see the pic so assume no-one else can either, it's here then: CLICK
Edit again: Forgot to say, doesn't have to be the same with the book and other attachments, just the basic seat thing.0 -
Lol at mythical magical trimester susan
I'm sure online you can stream bible stories being narrated... would Alice like those to save you reading endless chapters?
I'm just thinking through the pros and cons of whether to reappear in work at all between the two periods of maternity leave. After quite a bit of thought, it seems better not to, so they can just extend my maternity cover person's contract for another year, and save on hassle and recruiting costs. However, I'm not sure if this is necessarily how they'll see it!it's not the GP - after jade goody died we had a memo from the local lab that said they wouldn't process any smears for women under 25 unless they were bleeding or had family history.I'm not a geek honest!

I don't know whether this is an option but you could ask them which they would prefer.
Thanks, I did wonder about that, but it either means telling them really early, or not being able to make plans: financial and childcare until it's too late

I've just spotted this one in the Asda baby event. Would that do?

Thanks, but I tried him in that one and it's not as snug a fit around him and he flops over to the sides in it. That was the one I meant when I said I had seen the inflatable ones, but I couldn't remember what make it was!0 -
Weezl - one thing to be aware of - if you don't go back to work it may affect how much SMP you are entitled to next time round (depending on how far gone you are then). If you are paid monthly it normally works that they go back 15 weeks before the baby is due, and look at the last two paydays before that. They do an average and if it works out as less than £90 (at the moment) a week then you aren't entitled to any SMP (but would be entitled to MA). So it might be worth going back to work at the appropritate time to ensure you are paid enough on those 2 paydays?
Not sure if that makes any difference to you, but I thought I'd better mention it, as you would want to take it into account!
I've rebooked my smear for when I will actually be here, and ended up talking to the receptionist about rhyme time (I told her I couldn't have an appointment at 11am on Thursday, as that is where I will be!), and telling her to bring her grandson along as she looks after him on Thursdays. Thanks all, head not too bad today, tired rather than a real hang-over, had to drag myself up at 2am ish for Elijah as well, so I think my tiredness is legitimate! Very busy morning at work, running out of steam a bit now but loads to do...
17th, I suppose I can accept that!0 -

Sorry to spark the debate about smears, as I am unfortunatly the wrong side of 25 it doesn't apply to me, and I had my first smear at 21 as that was the min age.
OH loves the I love Daddy one
