Ohh, I've seen those in Mothercare - for more £££s tho, I think. "..up to 18kg.." - ha, that'll do Rhys til he's three then!

ETA: Doh, just realised an average three year old could well be 18kg :o Note to self.. google first! :(
    I'm fairly sure I was 15kg when I was 5.

I'm hungry, whats everyone had/having for lunch?
We had "picic lunch" aka sandwiches sitting on a blanket in the living room. (We do have real picnic lunches but only if it's nice enough to eat outside.
Anyone good any recommendations for electric/battery breast pumps? Don't want to spend a fortune and hiring could work out expensive
I used the Medela mini morning and evening for almost 13 months and always found it fine. It works off mains or battery so I was able to use it when we were camping.
would u wake a sleeping baby or try and put down without disturbing? want to get to my mums but desperately need a shower & i know he needs feeding when he wakes up - but hes already slept longer than usual...
I would jump in the shower first in the hopes he stays asleep until afterwards as it's probably easier to have a shower while he's asleep. (Although I don't see anything wrong in waking a sleeping baby as long as they aren't sleep deprived or anything.)

Hi i mainly post on the pregnancy thread but wondered if any of you have any children with hearing loss. My 4 year old has been diagnosed with hearing loss. He has failed every hearing test he has had from a 1 year old to now. He has had 4 failed hearing tests so far but they still won't refer him to ENT he just goes to a day clinc for the tests. They say they need to build a case history and to just carry on as normal but to have my wits about me when we are out. This does not help me at all. It may be just pg hormones but i feel i could cry at the mo. I just picked him up from school which is on a main road and there are tons of parents and children all walking along the path, his friend ran off back to his house which is quite far away and around corners and bends. My son slipped out of my hand and ran after him. I shouted and shouted at him to stop but he didn't hear me. Other mums kept turning around to see who this woman was that was screaming blue murder, I tried to run after him but couldn't catch up with him until he had reached his friends house. My friend who's child ran off in the first place didn't bat an eye lid and didn't tell her son off at all. Now he shouldn't be running off any way that is bad enough but when he can't hear well anything could happen. I really am at my wits end. He doesn't listen to a word i say and i know he has a problem but it we can't keep using that as an excuse. I just don't know what to do. I think it would be safer to drive to school.

I wonder if there is a link between FF and early weaning?
I was wondering whether there is a link between people's preconceptions about weaning and what actually happens. e.g. some people say that FF babies need weaning earlier so does that mean that some formula feeders wean earlier because they think they need to? Also some people think a baby can't possibly survive on breastmilk alone for six months so does that influence whether or not it happens?

Um, er, would you settle for I have no idea! It's a figure I was sure I remembered but what you said is so much more impressive so hats off to you *very impressed smiley*
I think I read it before I started weaning Alice (when I was doing loads of research about BF, EBF and weaning) when I had lots of time to read stuff like that. I happen to remember the figures because it is something which interests me. At that stage (2007) the results of the 2005 survey hadn't been released. I did read the 2005 one but have forgotten the details despite being interested to see if there was a change in weaning practice as a result of the official change of advice. (Although a friend who's husband is a paedeatrician said her husband found a paper which found that over the last 100 years the advice has been anything from 3 to 10 months and it hasn't borne any relation to actual weaning practice.) It is disappointing that they don't compare milk feeding practice with weaning practice.

Maybe it's because of insurance? They might not be allowed more than 5 people.
