The letter says "The hotel no longer offers complimentarty Car Parking. Car Parking will be charged @ £3.00 per car per day for residents staying overnight."

Thus it seems if you are using the restaurant, bar or leisure facilites you can park for free!!! I can't imagine customers calling for a meal being willing to £3.

but we had to pay £12 to park in the Cardiff Marriott hotel but as we couldn't pre-book we ended up in the NCP car park opposite where we paid £6.50

Apparently this practice is common place in Cardiff Hotels.

Another sign of rip off Britain perhaps

Bearing in mind that this is a money-saving site, can you reassure me that you got Hiilton HHonors points for the fee?

Is this not just another case of public pressure attempting to force the price lower and lower. To do this they offer greatly reduced prices to put heads on beds and then recoup their profits from elsewhere e.g. food, bar, room service and car parking. If you you pay a low base price you can not expect it to include all the services.

Had a terrible experience staying at the Hilton at Gatwick Airport, I would never stay at a Hilton again.

I have now registered for my Hilton HHonours points so that might help me recoup the £3 outlay on parking!!!
  • Hello .. I'm leaving heathrow at 6 in the morning - the only hotel in the airport complex is the Hilton .... are there any bargains to be had for a one night stay? I've searched and searched on the web, and the best I can find is £133.38 (112 + tax) Argggh.
    Thanks!

i stay at the Hilton a lot due to one of clients using them as the main accomadation for contractors and yes they are very expensive. Hilton Cardiff is now £12 a day for parking (went up after xmas), £15 per night for broadband internet access in your room and then a v expensive room service menu (£8 for a tuna sandwich plus 3.50 room service charge and £6 for a glass of wine:eek: )

Having said that its all relative - i can buy a perfectly good pair of shoes from George at Asda for £10 but i dont expect Jimmy Choos to be the same price:D not the best analogy I know but Hilton charges what it charges cos it can - if you want cheap stay in a B and B or a travelodge.

BTW i am going to Prague for 4 days free courtesy of HHonours so its defo worth signing up if you stay reasonably regularly
