Hilton Hotel Rip Off

Just booked two nights in a Hilton Hotel on a special offer. £59 per night B&B for two including dinner on the first night which I consider good value.

Booked over the internet about 10 days ago. Yesterday received a confirmation in the post stating that is £3 per night to park your car!!!

I wouldn't mind if it was in a garage or even in the city centre where space is at a premium but it is not. It is on an out of town leisure park just off the motorway.

Nor me - Hilton Cardiff charged £10 for overnight parking, St Davids Hotel charge £8. Hardly a 'rip-off',

    It's the Hilton at Coventry.

It's not a problem but I was surpised to have to pay extra for parking as it is not a city centre hotel where parking is at a premium.

I have paid £10 at the Ramada Jarvis at Hyde Park but I expect to pay in London or other city centres.

I saw this in our local paper a couple of months ago. It looks like it may be in every Hilton.

Sounds like a good money recouping racket - one perk being out of town is free parking.

Our Hilton airport hotel charges for parking but gives it back if you stay or eat there. It is obviously done to deter people using it for long stay parking.

I have a little sympathy to the OP. I don't like having to pay for parking when paying £60-100 to stay in the same hotels bedroom.

However, I live in Coventry and they introduced the charge a while ago becuase, basically, you could never park in the car-park. This was for two reasons. One, being next to J2 of the M6, you'd get businessmen from the South 'meeting up' with a colleague and then sharing a car to carry on their journey up North (thus saving petrol costs and 'free parking too)

Second, the hotel is on an industrial and business park full of call centres and research centres. Parking is limited and there was always cars parked on both sides of the roads around the WHOLE estate and of course, some cheekier staff would park in the Hilton.

You'll also find some motorway service stations (like the Warwick Services on the M40) have pay and display, again, to stop people parking for free and then driving on with a friend somewhere else for the day.

So I understand why, but still don't like it myself - they should refund genuine hotel residents to be honest and that way keep the riff-raff out of the car-park.

I agree with Jason, if you stay at the hotel you should not be expected to pay to park there even it is only a reasonable £3.00.

I've booked a few scottish hiltons at these kinda of discount rates and have never been asked to pay for parking. Seems to be only england?

Can you tell me where you got this offer/codes etc cause i'd be interested and don't see it on their website
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
