Problems with a used car bought from a garage

Tell us the name of the garage here. And show a print out of this thread to the garage. I am sure it will definitely dent their revenue.
A trader can NOT sale at "sold as seen, no warranty given" UNLESS this is a trade sale.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
The initial fault sounds like a camshaft sensor problem, a fairly common fault on the Ecotec engine of that vintage.
Did the orange engine management light work? (common for them to blow it)
Have to say your initial tone with the garage (I'll take this further if a fault blah blah) was fairly agresssive. Why didn't you simply take car away and get a check done by Vauxhall as a report
They ignored your initial two letters, hung up on you when you called or shouted threats down the phone and you still left the car there?
I don't know where you can go with this one.
I left the car there initially for them to sort the problem which they said they would do. After speaking to consumer direct I was told to reject the car AND leave it in their possession. Im sorry but that was advice I was given by a government body and it was advice I followed.
The engine wont start and wont turn over. There was no sign of the engine management light when the problem first presented itself.
I called the garage again today to explain I am in no position to pay the storage charge. He simply chuckled and said the cost will keep going up and that he wouldn't hesitate in taking me to court eventually.
I dont see my solicitor for another week but this is causing alot of stress and worry and from what ive read on here it looks like they will win and be laughing all the way to the bank.
Just for the record the garage is Westgate Car Sales of Wakefield. https://www.westgatecarsales.co.uk0 -
Nice volvo estate they've got for sale! wonder if I can get my mini striped up like that.He who has four and spends five, needs neither purse nor pocket0

Just keep it absolutely factual now you've named them,
;)
Other than that you are just going to have to see what the solicitor has to say as it's al got a wee bit messy.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Looking at their site, they are all trade sales.
This is why there is no warranty for you.
Also, by looking at the cars on sale, they all look shabby and old even from the photos.0 -
Trading Standards did inform me they cannot legally put no warranty given on their invoices. Where does it specify trade sale? says nothing about this on my invoice.
Spoke to my solicitor (got an early appointment) who said if it went to court it will more than likely go in their favour and he also said I am looking at a CCJ at the least for storage fee as I cannot afford to pay it.
Makes me sick that crooks like this can get away with this kind of thing. I wont be paying a penny ill drag it out as long as possible.
Andy mysteriously, since I posted their website on this post and made them aware of it, their website seems to no longer exist!0 -

Ummm, yes it does. I've just been on it!
It does seem a bit pants though that the consumer (i.e. you) has no protection from these rogues. Can I just ask how you paid for the car? I'm not sure if you mentioned this already, but did you pay any of it by credit card?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
No, paid in cash0

I was just wondering if you would have any protection on a credit card, but then not in your case. There's bound to be something to hang them out to dry with, but I can't see what it would be! Sorry I can't be of more help.:oNorthern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
Just to update, the garage are persuing me in the courts for the storage fee's.. Ive also been landed with a fine from DVLA for not taxing the car!
Looks like a CCJ or bailifs coming round because I dont have anywhere near the money they are wanting from me.
