Two PIRs for security light?

Aaaargh!
I'm getting annoyed with all these new regulations!
If I could afford to contract a tradesman everytime I wanted to do something like this I would. Instead, I prefer to save my money and research the project properly, then when I'm certain I can do it safely, I do it myself..
I've never undertaken a project I didn't understand first.
So does that mean I'll have to remove my lighting in the garden then? It cost quite a bit or money at the time, as I wanted a reliable system so I'll be pretty annoyed if I now cannot use it.
Anyone know hw much it's likely to cost to get an electrician to check it over for me?
I guess I'll have to get rid of our kitchen too, as I fitted that myself
jmc160,
How are you to know where the eminently qualified electrician who installed all your stuff originally now lives? You paid him in cash (that's still legal, at the moment) and he told you he was going to Australia to live with his son while his English money could still pay the fare, didn't he?
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

no this is like a security lamp with the PIR just has a solar panel as a powersource. I think it would be significantly brighter than the garden lights that are useless. I gave you the link so you can see what it looks like, can ask maplins or maybe homebase will have something similar or brighter.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

Interesting apart from the fact that it is a UK inspired law, nothing to do with the EU.
Not the UK either, only England and Wales. Part P doesn't apply in Scotland. We have different building regulations with different requirements for electrical certification which aren't as onerous as Part P.There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Who, me or the OP? I am, don't know about the OP. (Part P doesn't apply in NI either). There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

My companion insisted on buying one of those solar-powered ones. I was sceptical (that's probably what made her buy it
).
She determinedly drilled a couple of holes in the garage wall and adjusted it carefully to point at the padlock on the back gate. Then ran the cable along the wall and mounted the solar cell so that it points south.
We still need to use a torch to open the back gate when its bin-night.

Perhaps you could use a rechargable torch, hooked up to the solar cell?
