It was a bleak, depressing film and I saw little point to it, as we certainly didn't enjoy it. After the first five minutes, my mum said 'this is boring'... but as always, we stayed: me waiting for the film to pick up and waiting for my mum to wake up :rotfl:.
5/10 at best.
Well, I had a bit of a dilemma with this one in terms of choice of screening. Same day and same time for the screenings of The Hole 3D and Winter's Bone.
As soon as I saw the trailer for Winter's Bone, I thought I'd prefer a tough and gritty story compared to The Hole.
However, my OH and I were both less than impressed with what we we're actually presented with. Shame really.
I was up late last night (computing stuff) and only had about an hour and a half sleep tops, so I relate very much with both you and your mum's point of view.Invented tradition: Couponology

Couldn't you sleep during the film? :rotfl::rotfl:
My mum needed the loo after the film and I waited in the foyer. The guy behind the counter asked if I enjoyed the film, so I tried to be diplomatic and not hurt his feelingsand said '6/10... couldn't understand what the actors were saying etc'.
My mum came out of the loo and the first thing she said was 'stupid film!'... so much for me trying to be diplomatic!
Not that the guy cared, as all he does is work there, it wasn't his film.“It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.”

I'm ashamed to admit to nearly nodding off many times during the screening, and not all of which can be attributed to lack of sleep.
I was also waiting for the movie to really get going. There were a couple of times nearer the end that I thought this might actually happen - but nope - lol.
I explained to my OH that the trailer would've been fine for the length of the movie.
Being so tired - I thought I was hallucinating when I saw those squirrels - lol. That scene didn't look like it fitted with the rest of the movie. Was it art for the sake of art? Surely it still has to tie in with the rest of the movie!Invented tradition: Couponology

It's no consolation as you got up to go for it, but seriously, you didn't miss much.
I hope you enjoyed doing whatever you did instead.
I guess they just got it wrong on this occasion, oh well had a nice day in the park instead :-)0 -

Hey guys!
jus a quick question?
on the Sky Preview Screenings Website, The Town Dublin - 35mm Screening appears but i can not get a password for this screening even though I am a sky subscriber !! please if anyone can find the password for this film it would be much appreciated :rotfl:

I figured out the password last night, its all of 11 letters long and ends in town. I'm just surprised anyone wants to know it as its only for Dublin. I would have posted the entire thing but the rofl from a first poster put me off doing so.0

Your post did make me laugh when I read it on the bus coming home this afternoon. I'd been telling the driver and passengers about The Hole and how it had clashed with Winters Bone. I had asked one of the managers at FACT how the screening of WB had gone on and was told that it went down well and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. Whilst I was saying all this, I checked my mail and read your post. I had to tell them and we all had a good laugh at how different opinions of a film can be. I'm so glad your was comfy at least. :rotfl:0 -
what did people make of the hole in 3d?
I enjoyed it. It gave me a fright or two and I was very glad I wasn't at home watching it or else I'd have felt most uneasy. I talked to a group of friends afterwards and they enjoyed it too. The two teenage boys jumped a few times too
Whilst the 3D effects could have been better, there were a few nice touches, it was a very strange feeling to see things coming out of the screen when in the film they were coming from the bottom of something.
Which film did you end up going to see; The Hole or Winter's Bone?
I wasn't too happy that The Odeon left us standing outside until after 10am before unlocking the doors, then having to trek to the furthest screen in the cinema; screen 1. They really could do with installing a moving walkway in that place.0
