Laptop battery not working - can I do anything?

hello all, I have a laptop which I purchased in May 2007 from Curry's. Last week i plugged my laptop into the mains and discovered the battery is not charging up. Is it unreasonable for me to expect a battery should last longer than 2 years and four months, or shall I just buy a new battery?????
Have I got any rights???????? please let me know

Batteries have a fairly short life, which is why the manufacturers only guarantee them for 6 months.
2 years 4 months is not a bad life. Maybe it could have lasted longer, but you'd be unlikely to get anywhere trying to get a replacement.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

I will probably cede to someone else on this one! There are a lot of laptop battery shops online, but having never ordered one, I'm in no position to say who's good or not.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. Does it work when plugged in? Does the mains light come on? The reason I ask is that one of my laptops stopped working. I had to keep charging the battery on one of the others. It was only 15 months old. Motherboard had gone!!Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -

I know of a company that gets laptop parts that I have used before myself, but cant post here for advertising rules.0

I previously used www.laptopbatteryshop.co.uk to replace the battery on my then Acer TravelMate 2414, after about 12 months the original battery would only hold 10% of the original charge but I got a new one from here for about £40 and it had double the capacity of the original battery, the battery life with the new one was amazing![DISCLAIMER: Any posts made by myself are my opinions and do not represent my employer]
