I think I cracked my diet coke addiction! I gave it up for a 100 day challenge. Although I'm having 1 a day now I hope I could give it up again if it wanted. Maybe I'll do it again soon.

I might BTD. However I'm not drinking alcohol and caffeine so the (caffeine free) Diet coke is actually the treat! :D

We have a saying amongst the girls at work at the moment 'Keep Calm and Carry On'!
Think about how far you've come and all the positive things you've achieved. Then just keep taking things a step at a time.
Any particular thing making you worry? Or just a what if it all goes wrong feeling?

Hi Pickle and skint. I suffer with awful mood swings and after much research diet cole is the culprit! I have been drinking cans of the stuff for about 20 years!!! And i dont let ds have it so i should really practice what i preach!
Have a diet free savings pot and put the money in there instead! I do allow myself one if i go for lunch!
I have had a day at home today and i am so motivated from reading all your diaries!!!

You know, I've been having a serious think about the Diet Coke and I have realised that it really messes up my appetite when I drink it. Not cos it's full of calories or anything, but a combination of the bubbles making it fill up my tummy falsely and, much more importantly, the chemicals which replace the sugar in it messing up my tastebuds, mean that when I the go to eat I don't eat as much as I actually need to fill me up and am therefore more prone to snack later, and also I don't taste what I'm eating properly as my tastebuds are messed up. I really see no good reason to drink it anymore, especially as it messes up my teeth (and bones!) as well. (But what will I do when I go to the pub and don't drink alcohol?!)

  • Hi Pickle i saw on tv the other week the Anna Richardson my big fat diet and she talked to an "expert" on artificial sweetners and it had been proven that diet coke leads oue taste buds to expect sweet food to follow so the brain send signals to eat!!!:eek:

Nice non alcholoic drinks i like are soda or lemonade and lime with ice?
    Lemonade and cranberry yum.x:)
Just feeling that i am ok for the moment re paying everyone just a bit nervey as there is no slack in the system.xx
  • I have mini traumas about my debt everytime I post a message and see that bloody signature, but that is why it's there to remind me what I am doing.

I have thought about DMP, but at this stage I can still afford to meet the repayments and the overall figure is going down. I also feel that for me I need to pay it back without any support to prove that I can do it - does that make sense. I know that if it all goes bums up I can do a DMP but right now I have a horrendous amount of debt but I'm dealing with it.
    1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j
    2nd debt - MBNA - £6,618.52
First in many many to go - baby steps and all that!
First lump sum to go - fingers crossed!
    08/06/09 - [STRIKE]£11,497.68[/STRIKE] NOW - £9,757.75

:rotfl:, but I think that there is method in that madness for the reasons I have said in my last post. I still haven't had any, and will be trying not to (what should I use as a mixer with my Tia Maria?!), but I notice that other soft drinks don't have the same effect on me at all: I had a Fanta yesterday and I didn't get any of the wierd effects that Coke has on me. Hmm...
