Hi Iv been diagnosed bi polar and take, Lamotragine, venlafaxine and seroquel. My first psychiatrist said it was bi polar but another said recurrent depressive disorder.
I had a really bad time when first taking the anti ds and went high as a kite but also very depressed . My psychiatrist said it was a mixed episode.
I too have put on a great deal of weight. The psychiatrist says its because the meds stop the switch or numbs it so you dont feel full and eat more.0 -

hey everyone, I've got rapid cycling BPD which is hard with three little ones. Thankfully i have a partner who understands the illness. i was diagnosed about 6months ago officially but for the last 10 years it has been thrown around. I am on sertraline and quetiapine, but i am quite concerned after reading a few people on here saying that ssri's can be a problem? these were perscribed by the gp so, and ive got an appointment with my new psych in a few weeks(just moved house) so i think i shall be talking about this with him/her. Im having the usual symptoms of a manic cycle atm and i can feel it coming on so slightly concernd as i have no suport from outside services due to moving. Im a little scared to be honest.0

Hi all, is it ok if i join?? I was diagnosed with bog-standard depression about 4yrs ago, and eventually, my GP decided it was actually bi-polar disorder. I have had a lot of trouble with it, and it's really affecting my life, so have finally had to give up trying to deal with it myself and go back on the meds.
Was also referred to the local mental health trust for a psych. appt, and they refused to help me. SO a bit down about that.0 -

It's the same where I live. The mental health services have had a major shakeup & even patients who have been in the system for 25 yrs are now being discharged and refused help. Instead people are being told to go to MIND, which, no offence to MIND, isn't helpful to people who are ill.0
