Been like that in my town for quite a few years now. It's all wrong & no help to people who really need the support.
My OH had to really raise his voice for me to get back into secondary mental health services. He also demanded a re-diagnosis. I saw a professor of psychiarty & was diagnosed BP II with personality traits.
At last I'm getting some of the support I've been denied for over 13 years.
It's a shame that it takes us to get so angry before anyone will listen.0 -
Hello everyone,
Been missing in action recently!
Since i started taking Depakote - at the beginning of the month ( my last post) I have certainly noticed a marked difference in the weight department. My face looks bigger, and i feel more sluggish.
I have also over the last week or so been severly tired... asleep by 8! ( where normally 11 ish).
Now i dont know if this is because of the meds, or because of the illness itself - I have spoken to my GP to whom is speaking to my Pdoc. So we shall see what he makes of it.
Also - something that has really freaked me out - again dont know if its meds or the illness - I came out of the shower last week - walked into my living room ( live in a flat) - and there for about half a second was somebody sat right in the armchair. The figure came and went in the blink of an eye!, the only way i can describe it , is an external being, as opposed to something my minds eye protected out. It really did send my body in shock.
Then walked out of the living room and the same thing happened again., figure in the hall way for a nano second.
I spoke to my GP on this, and he seems to think it is the illness.. however I am more inclined to think its the meds. This has never happened to me before and has only happend 3 weeks into taking the damn things, I have asked him to include this in his discussions with the PDOC.
If these "halluciations" are part of my Illness - my fears are that of my diagnosis being changed. Bipolar 1 - Schizophrenia ( however you spell it) Shcizoaffective disorder - all appear to blot my mind ( currently bipolar 2 rapid cycling) Again this has never happend to me before but my own body certainly thought it was a big enough shock to send my heart rate through the roof!
On a final note - I would really recommend people use some soe of diary - this app on my phone has been very insightful - its basiclly showing my cycle from high to low, high to low - on a weekly basis. I wouldnt of beleieved it, if it wasnt my own diary entries!0 -

Dob her in, lol, I have not heard that saying for a long time. Its up to your wife if she takes the medication and the psych can only advise. Maybe she would be better looking at relaxation classes.0

Doing my best to keep as busy as I can stand to stave off the grief from my friend's death last weekend; I know I have to feel it, but if I let it come now, I'm likely to get kicked into a depressive episode that will last weeks or months and given I'm not on medication... I don't know about the advisability of that.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0

I gained weight very rapidly when on pregabalin for fibromyalgia, and I had to stop it there and then because it was making me so severely depressed.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0
