Like we found some bones in our house, dog had brought them in from the field they looked human, called police out, they didnt know if they was or not, had to be sent off to some high level department, took them 3 days to tell me they was a cow bone, yet my butcher disagrees, normally i would have gone off the handle but on meds i was fine, coped with it, i just wanna know why there is a dead cow in my field somewhere? police aint too bothered about it now though. Just to tackle the poachers next, bloody bipolar stops me getting a gun license or i would have em for taking my rabbits(not actually mine lol they are wild but i treat them like pets )Is a Bipolar bear0

My GP just can't get her head around why I don't want to take meds, but thankfully respects that it's my choice at the end of the day. Doesn't stop her from quizzing me over it every time I see her (for other medical conditions).
I have been ill for a year, I was put on anti-depressants by GP after 6 months with no effect and my behaviour getting more erratic by the day, she referred me to psychiatrist as she believed I was bipolar.
Was assessed by psych, was not depressed was a mood disorder (probably bipolar) and the medication I was on was incorrect. End result psychiatrist wrote to GP and told her to increase the medication he said was useless for a mood disorder!
So in a way I have been dealing with it without bipolar meds, but was not dealing with it very well.
She said okay we'll do it his way, if you're the same in 6 weeks we'll refer you back, 6 weeks later no change, referred back waited 3 months to be seen and was then officially diagnosed and started on bipolar meds.
I think it depends on how bad your symptoms are pink_numbers, in the space of a year I have lost a career which I loved, no longer live independently in my own home, will probably lose my home in the near future, and my children have had a year with a wreck of a mother. I will never have my career back, I will never have the year I lost with my children back, but if it allows me to start living normally again then for me the medication is worth it. Though I appreciate medication is not for everyone.0 -

Can I join? I'm not sure I qualify really, I'm not bipolar - but suffer from depression and mania. I'm struggling to cope with mania at the moment.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

I've had BPD and C-PTSD in the past. I've o idea. Started ADs a few months ago, and finding it hard to cope with being high. It is great, but I keep doing things wrongStay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

Have you spoke with your psych/ CPN? AD's didn't work for me, they made me more high! Might be worth asking about a mood stabilizer, either alongside or instead of the AD's?
I have finally found a good psychiatrist, seems genuinely interested in helping me move forward. Spent the past year being passed between locums, some who were ok, some who were plain incompetent. Just need to make sure this one doesn't leave!Gone ... or have I?0 -

I was on a mood stabiliser/ant-psychotic before I got pregnant, but she won't prescribe one when I'm breastfeeding. It is the third time I've gone high with ADs. I'm seeing Psychiatrist and CPN in a couple of weeks. They are aware of the situation but haven't suggested any coping techniques.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
