  • I have 9 cousins, of which I keep in regular contact with 7. We range between 16 and 36. I also keep in touch with my parents cousins and my parents cousins children.
I couldn't imagine it any other way.
DH however only sees his cousins at family gatherings.

  • I have 6 cousins, 3 older ones on my Dad's side, 3 younger ones on my Mum's side.

All bar the youngest one is on Facebook. The older ones all live in England, so I tend to see them at family gathering once/twice a year. But we email regularly

The youngest 2 I see monthly as my nan babysits them often (they helped me move into my flat 3 weeks ago!), and their sister I see every so often.

I have 4 cousins, on my dad's side. Mum was an only child. They all live abroad, haven't seen them for years.

  • I see and speak to them at family events but otherwise not really no despite my parents being close with their siblings.
  • I've got 8 cousins (all on my mum's side, my dad doesn't have any siblings) and keep in touch with 7 of them on Facebook, I'm the eldest and the youngest two are 16. We're scattered all over the country so I only really see them at weddings, but if I lived near any of them I'd be up for seeing them more.
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

wow, no wonder my other half thinks its weird how close i am to my family. I have 4 cousins, 2 females (30&35) on dads side and 2 males (28&21) on mums side. The 2 males i see at family birthdays and we were really close when i was younger, but my 2 female cousins are like sisters to me. They both now have young children of which i get called auntie too.(im an only child) and i see them near enough weekly, and wouldn't have it any other way.

My other half is the opposite, he has never met a few of his cousins and hasnt seen them since he was a child and isnt in contact with them anymore.
  • I dont know anyone on my dads side (not even my half brother and sister) so, no contact with any cousins there...
my mums side - we cut off my theiving scumbag aunt and her 2 !!!!! kids last year for robbing my grandmother blind and then having the nerve to verbally attack my mum when she happened to see a bank statement and asked where all thier mothers money had gone
so that leaves my uncles kids, 3 girls... 2 of which i have on facebook (one of them is going to sing at my wedding! if she can still fit us little people in when her album goes on sale!) the other i have no contact with at all,

my family is weird.... ive always wanted a close freindly warm type of family like you see on tv, but i got my lot... emotionally !!!!!!, spread out for miles to get away from each other and all of us biting our lips for the sake of a bit of piece and quiet!
  • I am very close to 3 of my cousins on my father's side, in fact, I forget that we are related, and regard them as friends. We lunch together, visit each others houses, our children are of similar ages and we all meet up for days out, and even go camping holidays together in a big group. My father died when I was a teenager, and perhaps I was drawn to his sister, (my aunt) and her children as a link to my Dad.
I am not so close to cousins on my Mum's side, but they live a long way away, and even in the USA too, so I suppose that does explain it a bit.

I know that feeling too, I always wanted to be like in Little House on the Prairie, but ended up more like Brideshead (without the stately gnome or piles of cash sadly!)

I have cousins, about 50 of them & they're all older than me except for 2. I may have met 5 or 6 of them once, plus I see the 2 youngest about once every 5 years. I think my mum sees them more frequently, especially since one had children. I like them & we have a lovely time catching up when we see each other, but that's it.

The only cousin I really speak to is my Dad's brother's oldest daughter - I speak to her on facebook occasionally. Her younger sister (who had all manner of health problems) died about a year and a half ago (which we didnt even know until her sister tracked me down on Facebook) also theres my cousin who is my mum's late brother's daughter, I see her occasionally as she lives near my mum (and her little girl is absolutely gorgeous!)
Other than that, my other cousin (shes my second cousin really but I call her my cousin) is in the Army, (shes a nice girl, am proud to be related to one of Our Girls) another of my cousins was in the national papers taking part in the annual Christmas swim in the North East last year which is the first anyone had heard from him in ages, but other than that none of us hear anything from any of the rest of them..
