No, I had no contact from them also for ages.
Even though my father used to live until recently very close to his sister (obviously their mother) and I would see them when I visited (different country so about twice a year).
When they got invite to my wedding, even though they would come with my father they didn't want to.
Then on the day of the wedding, I saw them outside of the church, they only came to have a look at me in my wedding dress (1.5hrs drive from their house) and dissapeared!!!
Veeeery weird...0 -
No. Last saw them at my grandmother's funeral in 1983.
These are the children of my father's older brother (now deceased). We lived quite a long drive away from them, and rarely saw them during my childhood. It was like visiting strangers for me. They're all older than me too. Wouldn't have a clue where they all were now.One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
My parents never keep in touch with their brothers and sister so I've never really known any of my cousins that well.
My Dad's brother split up with his wife and his children are down in Essex somewhere. Never really known them at all. His sister moved to Yorkshire, so I only saw those cousins a few times a year. We just grew apart really.
My Mam's brother lives local but we never saw them much, other than if we bumped into them at my Gran's house. Gran passed away last year and I saw one cousin at the funeral and she has added me on Facebook. She's since had a baby, so we chat about the baby. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Cousins on my dad's side, nope but I do have contact with the aunt/uncle. The elder cousin I have never actually met!
On my mum's side we regained contact with them some years ago but it is sporadic and one cousin we only met for the first time at my brother's wedding because he's lived in Canada for a long time - and he's in his late forties I think now.
Both my parents are gone now, my mother a long time ago so I think those relationships will carry on. Can't see there being some reunion with my dad's two nieces when I haven't seen the one I have met for nearly 25 years.0 -
My family is huge so I wouldnt know the majority of my cousins if they slapped me in the face in the street! The majority live in Australia so I guess its understandable, infact my family is so big I dont even know how many I have. But I have a fantastic immediate family which is still 17 people!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j

Aw, this is sad.
I am very close to one cousin who lives 20 miles away. See the others at funerals, but I would like to see more of them. They are lovely.
My kids all use FB to keep in touch.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

I do, i'm 26 and have cousins ranging from 45-7, I don't see them all very often, some more than others, but we keep in touch.
2 cousins have children and I keep in touch with them via facebook, also with children of my parents' cousins.
My ex had loads of cousins and everyone lived quite close to one another and we saw them all the time, I think it's lovely to keep in touch with family.,___,

I was raised by my paternal grandparents so was actually closer to my Father's cousins - we still exchange Christmas cards and had a lot of contact with their children also. As time has passed, we have drifted apart and I last saw them all together at my Grandmother's and then her Sister's funerals which were within one week of one another 10 years ago in January.
My own cousins are the children of my Father's brother. Wierdly, he and his wife joined the Mormon Church when I was a kid - so all their four children (they had five but one[of a set of twins] suffered SIDS) are God's little helpers. This in turn means (yes, they ARE trying to fill the Church) that they have had oodles of children -
1. Eldest (one yr older than me) male - has (I think) six children
2. Top middle (surviving twin) female - has four (even though the first one was born with all sorts of physical conditions)
3. Lower middle - female - has four
4. Lower/youngest (divorced:eek:/remarried) - male - three - I think!
My poor Grandmother used to buy them all gifts from her State pension; she didn't even know all their names - and I certainly don't (I can look it up though).
We used to have great fun as children, although when I went to stay I was always getting in trouble (having been raised as an only child) and the day that I got on the floor and prayed to Mecca as part of a game, I was in so much trouble you WOULD NOT believe it.
Short answer - not seen them for a bit, although send and receive cards. The tend to stay away from their heathen cousin.
(But they do pray for me.)0
