FFP, that was very sad about your friend

Pigpen well done on doing so much

Princess Jane, don’t give up on your dreams, it sounds like you really love him if you want to marry and have children with him. Some questions I’ve thought of – more for you to think about, don’t respond on here if you don’t feel comfortable doing so: Did he tell you about the debts or did you find out another way? What is his view of his debt? Does he want to get out of debt? With help and suggestions from you, would he work hard to get his debts down? Or is he just happy with the way things are and doesn’t see a problem? Even if, he’s not bothered about his debts, would that opinion change if you talk to him and tell him how you feel about it? IMHO, if you both want to get those debts down, and work hard together to do so, you can do it. Much harder if just one person is focusing on doing so and the other one isn’t bothered about it, but might still be possible. My DH doesn’t like being in debt, but isn’t as bothered about it as I am. I’m always going on at him about ways to save money – I’m always telling him to turn the lights off, turn things off standby, and all sorts of other things, and he will do it if I say about it, likewise when he wants to do expensive things, I try to think of a cheaper option and he’s usually quite happy to go with that. Maybe that would work with you? This site is full of tips as you know, I come on here every day to do research to see where we can cut back further and put more money toward our debts. HTH

Valli, hope your friends new bloke turns out ok, always worrying when they propose before actually meeting each other!

Mrs B, my hobbies are: reading, Bible study, knitting, French lessons, scrapbooking (this is a very new hobby), jigsaws (can only do this at Mum’s as no space here), writing letters to my friends/family, watching TV, spending time with friends

Hugs Boddy, well done on facing up to the horrible teenagers

Had a great time at our friends place yesterday, her fiance is lovely, they make a really sweet couple. They are in a little bubble of happiness! She cooked dinner for us and we took the pudding (eton mess) and I've just had another bowl of it now as there was some left over which we brought home. We watched Cool Runnings and played a card game. It was really fun!

Am having a restful day today as am not feeling too good. I'm ok but I could just feel that if I didn't completely stop doing things today I would be heading for a bad patch as I've been struggling the last couple of days. Will be fine later I should think.

I've got to get my act together next week as we have visitors at the weekend, possibly both days, but definitely Sunday, so I really need to give the place a good tidy and clean up, especially the LR and kitchen. So please feel free to kick me if I start slacking!

oo no they have met Rosey...

My friend went on a singles holiday - AFAIK there were about 90% women and 10% men - so she did well. They got chatting then she (being uncharacteristically fast for her) gave him a note saying what a nice time she'd had then they got in touch (he lives not far from Manchester) and they e mailed and phoned; she's met his family. He is a widower having lost his wife to the big C and has had a scare himself. She has had an awful time so I do hope this does work out well for her, not least because I don't think she is strong enough to cope with more hurt. He has apparently said he will propose next year, and is going to sell up and come over here; she has kids; he doesn't.

I like them all - the one on the left would be good on a feature wall. We have a dark wallpaper in our dining room, which comes into its own on winter evenings, with a log fire, low lights and lots of candles ;) Which room is it for

    Penny. x

Its for my living room and that is going to be the feature wall. the rest of te room to be painted with the same color as the background of the paper. The carpet to be done in the darker colour of the leaf pattern.

Quillion middle one for me with either a neutral very light brown or a grey, yes I said grey, carpet. Red cushions would set it off nicely, or cream with a red flower. I wish DP would let me have paper like that. Unsure if I would feature wall it rather than a whole room, or 2 walls of it.
    QUOTE]

The settee is like the red flower in leather and the curtains and cushions are cream with a twisted cord in the red beige and copper colour. This is round the edge of the tie backs as well.

The furniture is Lesvik from Ikea (sorry) and i have the smoked grey squares in them all so i have storage for jakes toys and my crafty items. I want a tall lesvik so i can transfer some books onto it.

We have a 50" tv which monopolises the room but this was my dh choice and i have to admit i do like it.

My house was built in 1994 and as it is only a small 2 up 2 down (we added the conservatory as a dining room) we don't have central heating. I am wondering if the laminate would be too cold during the winter. I did suggest under floor heating but if looks could kill i would not be typing this right now !!!

ooh, Quillion we have the Leksviks stuff too. Three of the big bookcases in here (one with the cupboard at the bottom) and two upstairs on the landing. If I could go back and buy them again I would have them all with the cupboards at the bottom - as we have very little storage space and no useable loft space. Have you seen the Leksvik four drawer chest is on offer between 12-18th October for £49?

I have now washed and dried the boys bedding (essential after a little accident) and just put ours in the WM, but other than that we are having a rare do nothing day.

If i get the job i am not sure which store i will be working in. If it is the Fargate one then i will be on perfume and tills i think. As i have shown an interest in Chesterfield store they will consider me for both. It is a temporary job but 4 months temp is better than 4 months jobseekers and they do sometimes keep people on who they are happy with. We shall have to see. Going to park at Crystal Peaks and get the 10 am tram in interview at 11
