Chargers are a rip off.
My son has had a SonyEricsson phone for about 6 weeks, now the charger lead has broken at the end it goes into the phone. I've sent it off to their repairers who say it has been damaged by the customer, then I spoke to them again and they said they will get another repairer to look at it - this 2nd one apparently says the same. They have sent me a photo of the charger - why? I know what it looks like!
I'm not sure what line to take next, has anyone successfully got a replacement? They said they'd phone me back but of course haven't, they want to charge us to repair it.
I see from a previous thread I can probably get a cheap one at a pound shop or online somewhere, but it's the pricipal isn't it? They seem to be making crap chargers that we then have to pay to replace. I wonder how much they make out of that?

I would suggest cutting your losses and buying a cheap replacement off Ebay, followed by a strongly worded letter of complaint to SonyEricsson. It may not do any good but you might feel better for it!This space has been intentionally left blank0

i would do the same as Glennthebaker suggested. get a spare one in the meantime and write a strongly worded letter to ericsson. a charger breaking in six weeks is unacceptable - i mean what on earth can you do to a charger to break it without forcibly pulling the cable apart?
i tend to usually buy spare chargers from ebay. the problem however is that sometimes the cheapo copies dont supply enough current/voltage (not too hot on physics, can't remeber which it is) and therefore don't charge the phone properly. for example i have a samsung one at the moment that can't charge the phone properly while it's switched on, only when it's switched off. so beware of the ultra cheapo ones on ebay0 -

Fran, ring them or write or both and tell them you want the charger back in the condition they received it so that you can allow Trading Standards to inspect it with a view to persuing the matter with them and via the small claims court if necessary.
This might prompt them to replace it to save any hassle or at least you'll get it back and I'm sure someone you know can replace the lead.
Sounds like it only needs shortening by a few inches and resoldering inside.0 -
I feel that these sony ericsson things are always dodgy becuase of the type of connection.
I would just buy one off ebay. They are pretty cheap.0 -
I'll happily send one free. I run a market stall and buy them in for £1. PM me your details.0
