I would guess its the PSU on it's way out. This link will give you more detail and possible solutions, but personally I would have Sky come out and swap it.

Thanks for the link, I will call Sky tomorrow. Do you know how much it will cost? Its no longer under warranty. Would it be cheaper to use a local repair company or buy a second hand box?

    Thanks

  • A call out out of warranty is £65 I think , but people have told of successfully getting it free if threatning to leave because the service is unwatchable. The fee will cover any repair needed (i.e dish/lnb if needed) and a refurbished box and 3 months warrenty. However, you might pick up a 2nd hand box off ebay for cheaper if you were charged by sky for the call out.

Is your box showing both inputs have signal? Check in Services - System setup - signal test

This is one of the biggest faults with these. They basically can only do one thing at a time.

Check both inputs and the strength of each input.

You could also do a "planner rebuild", that helps with Hardrive issue, but you may have a hardrive failing and this could be causing the faults you are seeing.

You can get these changed really easy, just search "sky box replace hard disk" in google.
  • I trust you've tried powering down the box at the mains and powering it back up again? That sometimes cures all sorts of evils.

This has been happening to mine over the last few days. Started with failed recordings, and with two teenagers that is a disaster. Then it stopped working at all. DS did the checks, power down and up again. Could use for viewing but not recording and then last night stopped completely - right in the middle of Criminal Minds, and a two parter at that.

Had the +box 3 years, should have upgraded to HD a few months ago really, so its all my fault.

Seriously considering going back to VM, especially for better BB than I get with BT line, but if I could get a good deal from Sky for HD I would stay.

Can't see anything on VM website about multiroom though.

just phoned sky, once i had got past the call centre in India who passed on the wrong message to technical dept..... they said basicially there are lots of reasons for it and they need the failed/clashed recording keeping, so ive now got to wait till it happens again, keep the failed/clashed recording on my planner and ring them back.....
