Jaz, Etsy is a good place for wheatbags, on many of the shops on there they let you specify whether you want lavender or not, which is useful! Also, ebay, here are a couple:

My main problem with the bath isn't so much getting in - just a bit painful, as long as I can move my hip without too much instability - my problem is that getting back out again is so difficult, it necessitates attendance from Greenpeace!

(Or is this off topic because it doesn't mention how to buy or get free a seat I can't use?)

Have you looked in Bon Marche.They do different lengths and larger sizes.I've gone over to them as Evans has gone too young.(not sure how old you are )

JoJo, have you thought about a bath lift? I recently got one after resisting for months (I HATED the idea of it) and it's just changed everything! Also, mine was from a local mobility store- I wanted to choose one that did everything I needed, rather than getting one that didn't even recline from my OT- and it was £200 on sale, it goes down to 6cm, it reclines to 50 degrees, it's just great! I've also worked out that if I wiggle down it, so I'm off it in the bath, I can get just about all of me in the bath! Something that's not happened in months!- I had a bath stool- bath board style, but it was actually in the bath and took up room, from my OT before, but it never made it much easier to have a bath.

I would second considering a bath lift / seat JoJo.

Mine came from the OT [I must have been lucky because it reclines] and it definitely makes getting into the bath a lot easier. My problem is sitting down when in the bath as that can be quite painful, so a shower is easier at times.

With the bath seat, I can raise it to bath level, then just need to move my legs across to get out. This is the one I have:

Bath board here (OT), & a large handle on the wall to use getting on/off the loo! I was hanging onto the wash hand basin but as was pointed out it could easily pull off the wall.
Also the OT had a shower put in for me, which is lovely as just standing under the hot water is good for pains.
Hope you are feeling a bit better Pipkin, I'm busy trying to find a cardie I like as I am so feeling the cold.

I've been on the council transfer list for an accessible property for 4 years now, as it is apparently not possible to adapt the bathroom (or the 35 steps up to the front door).

Unfortunately, because I have a life and a family, I can't just take any old third floor bedsit they offer - I have to wait for a three bedroom house (all flats in the borough have heavy security doors which I can't manage very well) - and so far I have been offered places which have steep steps up or down to each, all of which were rejected by the OT.

Oh, and only 3 families on the transfer register have been rehoused in the last 7 years according to a freedom of information request, so my chances are minimal. As there is no legal right to keep clean or get safe access to your home, as compared to an office, the DDA doesn't apply.

Darn it! I should have had more children and not got ill - I'd be in a house by now if I had.
