Listing a huge (5ft by 2ft) soft toy for collection only, then stupidly agreeing to let the buyer arrange their own courier.
One courier no-show, one refusal to accept, 2 days off work, and about £10 in petrol and costs trying to find something big and strong enough to wrap the thing in.
And I never even got so much as an emailed thanks or a feedback for it.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Looking at it the other way ... I sometimes list all eBay items by "time remaining", to look for stuff that's about to finish unsold and which I can get for a silly price. You have to go to about the fifth page to start looking though, because there isn't enough time left to get the stuff on the first few pages!
The best thing I've had recently was a USB flash memory reader all the way from Hong Kong for a grand total of 1p delivered. It's quite useful too!0 -
I listed a toy that I had several of. It didn't sell, so when I relisted it, I changed to free P&P (with increased item price) to increase visibility. Once I had sold a couple, I reverted back to a lower item price and charging postage. BUT I forgot to check the "2nd and subsequent items" box, which had been filled in with "0" when I originally changed to free P&P. Someone came along and bought the lot, and paid only about £2 in P&P, but it cost me a small fortune to post them. Oops. I've made a few silly mistakes that have ended up costing me money but I think the daftest actually comes from my husband. He had decided to sell his collection of Red Dwarf memorabilia so I duly asked him for a description, took lots of photos then set up the listing. It had tonnes of watchers but then on the day went for about a tenner. He was gutted but then realised that the listing had ended on the first day of the yearly UK Red Dwarf convention... oops.0

I had a big clear out and sold about 10 different items, all finishing on the same day. A few buyers paid immediately so I packed them up and sent them out. A few more buyers paid the next day, but when packing up the items I realised I'd mixed up two addresses and sent a pair of 5in wooden platform sandals to a poor man who won an electric toothbrush! He was very nice though, sent them back quickly so I could get them off to the right person. Cost me a fortune in refunded postage though.
Also sold a Karen Millen beaded evening dress, originally bought for £150 just a year before and sold for £22.

I once bought a black suit from Wallis, cost me around £80 as I decided to tidy up my work image. Put it on one morning, decided there was no way I was going to wear a tight fitting black suit with pencil skirt without getting grumpy and hot and sold it on ebay. I got the opening bid of (I think) £4.99.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
