Free £2.50 Clubcard Points At WHSmith!

  • Used two vouchers in my local WHS within a few minutes of each other ... thought spent too much on each transaction, I read the voucher wrong and thought I had to spend minimum £2.50, not £1.00. Well, won't make the same mistake next time.

$$$ - Could you get a friend to go in and buy some things for you with the voucher and your clubcard (if they don't have a clubcard) as the clubcards don't have your name printed on them.

I think it is hard for anyone to track how many you use because I used a separate one last week which was a different voucher than the one here but it was the same branch I used it in. There are always a few vouchers available at the same time.

as soon as i get £5 worth of points i weither buy some book tokens or whsmith tokens/gift cards so i only have a small amount of points on my card at any one time, also you can spend them later as if you were using your points

Went to WHSmith again today to try and use the 4 remaining vouchers I'd printed off. Done as before hubby, used 2 and I used 2 using different staff members, but all on the same card. Worked a treat!! No probs at all. Also on the last transaction I bought a scratchcard and won £12!!! :T Had £17.50 from these vouchers now and I'm well chuffed.

Big thanks to again to the OP alexpeck.

I agree with col sav. On a previous thread about WH Smith vouchers someone commented that these EXTRA points had later been deleted from their card, so.....If I don't spend the points I have been getting gift cards. I just sent one card for my nephews birthday ( heavily subsidised by free points) and just got a £5 and £10 card completely made up of free points, plus I was handed a £5 off books over £10 coupon - which combine with the cards should be able to pay for an expensive uni course book
Don't get me wrong, I have never been in or SPENT so much in Smiths as I have in the last few months - got loads of paper for the kids, and newspapers ( one with offers or coupons in of course ;) ) and SOOO many toblerones and bars of chocolate ( cannot resist a bargin:D ), I feel sick. But I am well up money wise, and would like to thank those kind MSE who post the links on here.:T

Also, my friend sent off for a Smiths card, but it will be ages - up to 28 days I think it quoted, so I lent her one of my cards to use when she went shopping. As someone else said, no name on the card, so she had no problem, and I got an extra 250 points.:j

Worked today so i thought i would try out the voucher again that i have used several times already. Somebody said that the till had started not issuing the 250 points but i can confirm that the till still will issue the 250 points for using the voucher more than once (its not smart enough yet ;))

In my opinion, do not get gift cards. Remember, these can be tracked and the value edited. Either get a paper National Book token (can be used in loads of book shops) or a paper old-style WHSmith token. If you get a gift card then they may remove the credit.

Good idea to convert CC points to vouchers, etc, BUT from the WHS website:
Points will not be awarded on and cannot be redeemed against, purchases of gift vouchers, charity products, stamps, National Lottery products, phonecards, book tokens, theatre tokens, tobacco, cigarettes and certain other goods that may be notified from time to time.

Well I did get gift cards, the first, part paid in cash, the balance using points on my card and two more using purely points. In fact the last one was for £5, I handed over my card and said 250 points from there, and I will pay £2.50 cash. I also handed over the voucher. He scanned my card, the voucher and said "you have enough points on here now without the cash !" It was only later that I read the T&C saying no gift cards. So the staff are not reading the T&C, and the tills arn't picking it up either.
Also thanks to Matt, I had assumed once I had used my points for gift cards I would be safe from loosing the money, I had better try and get the paper ones if I can, and see if my cards still have money on them

Hi everyone! I spent a couple of these vouchers and just asked to pay with points at the till each time (as mentioned on here before) - that way there is no outlay and everything you get for £2.50 is free! The staff seemed quite amused really and didn't mind one bit! I'm guessing that all other the country people are doing it!

ps. Cheers to all those moneysavers who pressed the thanks button on my original post in the few hours we had it back! Glad I could be of help! =o)
