When I was young and on holiday my parents had to stay awake the first night as I always tried to climb the walls of the caravan0 -

has anyone thought whether the agent will query the 90% spend on rent. When we rented, they virtually did an autopsy on the my ins and outs.0

I personally think you should, just on the basis that you work from home.
You will need to bring in an extra 5k though, i mean, is that achievable or are you happy to use some of the nest egg.
I also think you should HAGGLE it right down too. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I think you should go for it and haggle the price down as much as you can.
Where you are is doing you no good at all.
You need to feel safe and not as if you are in a cage."This site is addictive!"

PN - I too am one of the women who fly under the radar. I keep my head down, my nose clean, live frugally and don't answer to anyone but myself.
My indulgence is holidays. My condition is much much better in a warmer climate, so much so that for a couple of weeks I feel almost 'normal'
So despite my low income I go abroad sometimes two or three times a year. I don't go overboard, and I'm not particular where I go as long as it's warm and the hotel can cater for my mobility problems. My capital funds my excursions, and I am happy to take the financial hit because it helps to give me a more comfortable physical existence and so helps to save my sanity.
I have no qualms at all about living on beans and toast to pay my gas bill, so I don't have to touch my 'holiday fund'
If you've done the sums and are not putting your financial future at risk, I'd say go for it. Happiness, safety, and security are priceless.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
I'd do it but I like being comfortable in my own home.0

Current: £350 for a small studio, can't see if it's sunny outside, nothing to look at outside, not being able to see the sun makes me not open the curtains most days. 2am, fancy a cig, I get reasonably dressed and creep outside and crouch down beside the road pavement, where drunks and weirdos potentially pass.
Potential new: £575 for a 1-bed shiny new flat right on a beach with french doors onto a large balcony overlooking the beach. If I can get the sunny side (bet those beggars are pricier) then it'd mean throwing open the french windows and looking down onto the beach and out to sea, with the sun flooding in. 2am, fancy a cig, I'd step out onto my private balcony in my jim jams and smoke.
Overall, it'd probably cost me £250/month more than where I am now , but quality of life would be better. So £3000/year, which would mean I'd have to up my income by about a further £5k to pay for it.
It's annoying interest rates dropped or that'd have paid for it all.
P.S. and I can invite hot men back to my cool pad
I would go for it. I read many of your posts of the buying / selling thread and am sure, having had so many viewings, you're delighted that you managed to sell & now has more freedom and some capitol.
I would ask though that if you have a living allowance along with capitol from the sale of your place, how does that work out. Don't want to pry and you don't have to answer but is it cause your capitol comes under the savings threshold. If so I can understand your reluctance to dip into those savings should they only last a year or so!!
I'd still be inclined to go for the quality of life for a time rather than worrying about securing the future. Althoug???....But then????,.....Could get run over by a bus??......
If i could do all ie. No noisy neighbours, a balconey WITH a sea view, a smoke when I want and my cat... I'd be tempted.
Good Luck on your decision, and all the best for just making one!!0
