Why the frak cant you smoke in your own house?
That's a silly way to live.

Lots of reasons. Actually, I don't want to - even if I were allowed. It smells and is dangerous .... and I'd have to redecorate.

Most/many AST's (rightly or wrongly) say "no smokers/no smoking".

    Because you're worth it.
Did your housemate ever return from the police station - or is it a different shaker?

I should go have a look about on Monday. Mither some agents, get on some lists.

It's difficult when you're at the poor end of the renting scale. Lots of lovely places for couples, but one income's a real stretch.

My place would probably cost triple what I pay if it was in Brighton!

If you gave up the fags you would have more money for rent;)

What is the market like in your area? How much would it cost to buy?

It's not my area. I don't have an area as such... I'm a traveller. It's about 60 miles from here.

It's like most recent developments, where there's a mix of sizes and you aren't ever told the number so can't look it up on Land Registry. It might be about £150k though .... I'd not want to buy it, wrong sort of property entirely to own and be stuck with. LR seems to indicate that all those that have resold since new have lost £50k.

A flat in my block lost £40k plus £2k a year for maintenance.

PN has no dependents - no kiddies to orphan through her bad lifestyle choices - and I bet she's paid a lot in tax on not great paid job to fund other people's little darlings... if she genuinely enjoys a ciggie in a non-enclosed non-public place ploughing money into the tax cash-cow I don't begrudge her the option to choose to spend her money on a perfectly legal purchase.
