4 Speeding fines in a row could lose my job & house!

Simple answer to this one.
Slow down and pray to god/allah/budha that you didn't get done for a 4th time. You can try to plead your innocence if it goes to court but to get hit by the same camera 4 times in the space of a week shows you are not paying attention to the road.
I think you would be better off accepting the fact you've been done, going to court and explaining your circumstances to the judge rather than trying to wriggle out of one of the offences.
A totting up ban is not like a drink driving ban which is an automatic minimum 12 months. If you explain you need your licence for work you could try and go down the short ban (2 weeks to a month) and a very large fine. Also with a otting up ban once the ban is over you go back to a clean license.Cover me in honey and fling me to the hermaphrodites!0 -

but if within the 12 months he losses his job his car his house his wife and his kids (like we see on the tv adverts for the drink driving campaigns) then hes in the same position so a clean liscence in 3 years time would mean very little for him....work permit granted!0 -
i feel so sorry for you. whilst i don't condone speeding losing your licence and your livelihood over this seems so out of proportion to the actual 'offence'.
A ban from driving for a few months would be getting off lightly IMHO compared to the potential for knocking down and killing a workman in the road in some roadworks.
I'm sure if your other half was a workman in these roadworks you might not be quite so quick to say it is "out of proportion"0 -

sorry caught once, unlucky, caught twicw.silly caught 4 times you deserve what you getI
MOJACAR0 -
so why do you go 60mph during roadworks on the m5? You realise that most of the time the lanes are smaller, and there is a lot more traffic closer together. There is a reason why its 50mph. Workmen are also working alongside the motorway.
How inconsiderate of you to ignore the speed restriction in place. Not only once, but on many occasions. Makes you look even more stupid.
You only have yourself to blame, and I am glad these speed cameras on roadworks exist imo.0 -

good luck!
I think the points should be graduated. I got 3 points for doing 37 in a 30 in an industrial estate, its a ghost town there on a Saturday, you couldn't hit anyone if you tried.
I think it should be 1 point for every 5 MPH over or something.
But 3 points as standard draws no distinction between going a little faster (say in an industrial estate or a deserted town in the night time) & dangerous speeding.0 -

So someone has be doing 45mph past your front door before they get 3 points. Smart. But 3 points as standard draws no distinction between going a little faster (say in an industrial estate or a deserted town in the night time) & dangerous speeding.
Industrial estate possibly, but then what is the chance that that police are are going to be checking speed limits in an industrial estate late at night.
However the town centre is a different situation. There may be less people around, but those that are probably worse the wear for drink, and the last thing that you need is some twonk speeding through the dark. (and yes I know they shouldn't be drunk, should be paying attention, shouldn't be in the road, etc, but they are not the ones aiming a ton of metal).
Anyway how many people are going to be employed in your grand plan of mapping the UK to work out that this street is 30mph, but between these hours people will only get 1 point per 5 mph over the limit, between these hours they get 2 points, between these hours they get an immediate ban...0 -
Will someone please think of the children! They could have been playing tag in the hard shoulder!
As suggested, head over to pepipoo, you'll actually get helpful advice over there.
My co-worker was done 3 times in a day on the same spot of road, pushing his licence to 12 points, but he avoided a ban as it would have affected his ability to do his job.
Unfortunately the plonker did the same thing a week later and really did lose his licence :rolleyes:0 -
The OP could argue and say that they weren't speeding 4 times - their speed just stayed the same in one journey - so maybe they should get just 3 points...?
However, it's quite dumb to speed in roadworks...0
