Morning all! :hello:
{{{hugs}}} for everyone who needs them
Had a better night's sleep last night, but have woken up all bunged up with a cold.
First thing this morning is football practice with the boys. Weather is miserable here so standing in a muddy field is going to be fun!
Then we need to go into town as the boys need slippers and wellies for school. I hope they actually use them this year, my eldest's weren't used at all last year so I hadn't bothered getting any this year, but we have had a letter home insisting that they have them. So I shall be going to Matalan to find the cheapest pairs they have!
Saturday night is takeaway night, think it will be fish & chips this week.
Hope you all have a good weekend x0 -
morning all!
am playing with my new toy - a laptop from EBay, a real bargain now that DS1 has been and sorted it all out for me:D
Today I've made a lemon drizzle cake(in oven as we speak) for Mums elderly best friend who I'm minding while Mum is on holiday, poor lady is blind and very hard of hearing and housebound so food is about all she's got!
Later I'm off to West Bromwich to visit my friend - not looking forward to the journey as I hate driving in busy traffic and motorways and my sense of direction is awful but luckily I can use the TomTom.
PP - hope DHs foot is on the mend x
Diva - (((hugs))) to your friend , I'm sure you will be a great support to her x
Hilstep - glad you're on the mend x
Hester - Happy Birthday to your DH - bet he went off to work with asmile on his face today!;):D
house clean and tidy, yesterday I decluttered and cleand out the kitchen cupboards and drawers. 2 loads of washing on the go.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend xDo what you love :happyhear0 -

Morning all
MSD I am sorry to hear about your friends news - something we all dread but as long as she has good friends to help her she will get through it.
Hillstep glad that you are feeling better now
I have been up since 6.30 and have so far done two loads of washing and got it on the line drying. I have cleaned the cooker and kitchen cupboards as well. We have a lovely sunny morning here, I hope it lasts
I love Saturday mornings because every one else is in bed till about 9,30 and I can get on and do what I need to.
We are off to a Joust today - quite looking forward to it and entry is free - even better.
Have to go and get ready now it starts at 11.00:eek:
will let you know how it goes.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Good morning.
I decided to start on the lunchbox baking too this morning. 24 cherry scones. We are minus 2 already as ds asked for one and wondered off muttering "mmmm, homemade scones are the best", so I decided to test them myself and I have just had one with a cup of coffee.
Ds was hanging about in the kitchen waiting for a scone from when I put the flour in the bowl, so we made a dozen fairy cakes too. I doubt that they will make it through to next week as one of his friends will be calling round later, and when one child arrives, more follow.
I only have today and tomorrow left as the chief entertainment officer, and then ds starts school, yay!
Take care all of you0 -
Morning all,
Beautiful day here :T I have a towel load in the wm, which I will put on the line, and then I need to do OH work clothes.
OH has just been to the car boot sale, and come home with a large bloomer loaf, a smaller medetarinian type loaf with olives and sun dried toms, and two steak and kidney pies :T, there is a new stall there from a local bakery, they look delish, may change the meal plan for tonight.
DD had a friend coming for a sleepover tonight, last fling before school on monday, I must admit I am looking forward to getting back into the routine, not looking forward to the early starts though .
I need to go to a local shop today, which does cheap sugar, in preperation for making more grape jelly next week, anyone got any ideas what I can do with the rest of the grapes, not wine though as I dont have the equipment, my sis is having some, and attempting wine.
Aussie thnks for the zucinni recipe, is it the same as bread and butter pickles, ??? but with zucinnis ??
Catz I do hope Penny manages to get some sleep (Penny is a dog btw)
Hester Happy Birthday to hubbie xx Only one present this year ?you are slipping
Diva your peppers look great, I have a load coming too, but mine are still green
Have fun all xx0 -
Morning Everyone
Bright and blowy here today, so one load of washing already on the line and another in the machine.:T:T Would like another two today then only one left, and weather for the next week isn't exciting:rolleyes:.
May just tackle sewing up and pinned up pair of curtains (hung) which I ran out of time on and forgot to go back too:o.
Also fancy making some scones, cakes, etc., but must just keep it to eating amounts as I will get the freezer emptied. Will have the left over fresh chicken from yesterday with chips and beans tonight, one of our favourites, and will get a joint or a pie out of the freezer for tomorrow. Will make a fresh fruit salad for afters to use up some fruit, though some of it may find it's way into some muffins. Will also put a teabread in the BM, as DH adores teacakes.
Better get off here and get cracking.
:grouphug: to all

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
I'm back again, Redruby, it's early yet, give us a chance.
Right I finally have some OS to report (just so I don't get thrown off the thread)
WM & DW both on, large courgette/small marrow given to me by a work colleague so I'm not sure, in the process of being pickled as per Aussie's recipe, beetroots donated by same colleague being boiled atm. Kitchen swished & swiped, it'll be bottomed later, after hubby has finished cleaning the fish tank filter.
Thinking back to yesterday & the marrow, I wonder if our H&S officer realises how close he came to receiving said marrow, sideways, where the sun don't shine?
Off to DMIL's soon, she's cooking a birthday lunch for hubby.
Hugs Hester

Morning all.
Jumping in here. Haven't been on the OS board for a while. I seem to switch between OS and convenience lately, but need to get back on the OS wagon, as we're spending a fortune on take-outs ect.
I've had a couple of days this week where we've cooked home made meals, but a couple of issues that side-track us are 1] either being out for the whole day or 2] I'm not in the best of health to cook from scratch.
I was thinking earlier that I really do need to make more use of the slow cooker when we're out for the day, and although I don't have the energy to batch cook at the moment, making an extra couple of meals to freeze would help. [Currently, mom does make meals for us to go in the freezer though]
So, today's plan is to do an inventory of what's in the cupboards / freezer ect and then to meal plan for the week. Hopefully this will start with getting us back on the OS track!
Hope everyone has a good day.

Wm on and bathroom blitzed, just s&s the kitchen then salad for lunch again, pot luck this evening.I have to go to mr t's this afternoon to take back a pair of jeans, when i bend over i have builders bum:rotfl:i'll have a look for the shoulder of lamb as it will make a nice change .
Msd...what a gorgeous pepper plant! i would save some of the seeds for next year, even if it's an f1 hybrid the resulting offspring could be interesting. [hugs] to your friend.
be kind to yourselves today
