Slabs in garden listed as staying? Turf? There are some extreme people out there.0

Can you change your offer to an amount that may or may not be the price agreed, but you won't actually tell them what it is until completion? You don't know what you're buying, they don't know what they're getting for it, everyone is back in the same boat.poppysarah wrote: »Slabs in garden listed as staying? Turf? My vendor seemed quite shocked that I asked about carpets, he just assumed they went with the house. Put them on the F&F form though, as I'd mentioned it. Also laughed about the fish, as again he just thought part of the house, but as I said they didn't get listed......0 -
An F&F form takes 5mins to complete - why wouldn't the vendors want to complete one? As you say, getting a solicitor's letter sent will have taken them longer. I've heard of people arguing about F&F before, but never the form itself!
I'd be worried about whether - costs aside - they would strip enough from the place to make it uninhabitable. Taking too much with them - or bodging the work when fitted kitchen units etc. are removed - could mean the house isn't in a state where you'd want to move into it.0 -
Well just a quick update, (as so often threads tell of a problem, have lots of advice and theres never any feedback) Its also to thank everyone for taking the time to give me advice and support:beer:
I was dreading recieving 'the letter' from the other solicitor, and got very wound up about what it may contain, anyhow it didnt turn up, by tuesday teatime I was a bag of nerves, texted my OH that it had not come again, and he called our solicitor.
It would seem that after the discussion with my solicitor last friday, (where he said the vendors solicitor had done 'the letter' explaining why they were not prepaired to complete the f&f list), he must have realised it was not really workable....he called the vendors solicitor and said the sale could only proceed if they completed it! (and I assume then took 'the letter' out of his post tray and binned it)
......pity he didnt do that five bl00dy weeks ago:rolleyes: would have saved a lot of heart ache!
Vendor has now filled the 'blanks' in on the original document, which we recieved today. Thankfully it has no particular suprises (like a cross in EVERY box!) but more or less confirms what they had said verbally, but now I know in writing what is included...officially!:D
Never have recieved 'the letter' I spoke of in earlier posts.
But now its done, and looks like things are going to move pretty fast now, as that was the only outstanding thing from our POV.
At least I know i will have a doorhandle to open the door when we move in!:rotfl:
I can try and start to get excited about the house that we really wanted all those weeks ago:T0 -
Congratulations, glad its started moving again0

Many thanks for posting back with the result.
Threads like this just go to show the extremes of human behaviour.
There was a time when you could rely on people to help others when stranded or in distress - folk in a community would help others in need.
Your vendors won’t even tick a few boxes until a stick is wielded. Very sad!0 -
Just want to vent a little....
cant believe the stupidity of some people...
There were a few items (including fire, and fitted kitchen appliances) that were in the EA brocure, but then the vendor wanted us to pay extra for, after they accepted our offer.
We confirmed we wanted to buy some items and signed the contract last week with these items listed.
My solicitor has just called, planning to exchange in next few minutes, but just found out....the vendor has sold everything to someone else!!
Its not a deal breaker, but after all the bl00dy messing around with the F&F list, finding that there was nothing we could do about them deciding to exclude items after we made the offer. We then resigned ourselves to pay extra, but at least get a kitchen that looked 'fitted' ....then they flipping sell to someone else anyway at the last minute!!
Im wondering if they actually wanted to take these items with them anyway, and the 'you can have them if you pay extra' was just a red herring, hoping we would not want to buy them!!
The stupid games people play, just stupid.
Heaven knows what state they will leave the house in, I was just starting to think that things were going so well and maybe I had misjudged them!0 -
Tell them you want 10k off the house, for the appliances and the hassle.
Its unfortunate, but the only other avtion you can take is to walk. If you really want the house you can't do this, although I'm so bloody minded at times I probably would and lose a house I wanted in the process!0 -
Thanks, just needed a vent!
Solicitor has called, exchange just done, so need to think positively, and forget about the stupid vendors (thank God they will not be my new neighbours!!)
:j0 -
At least go round and wee in the air vent of their car, think of your pride!0
