I am unsure of barclaycard's dpa compliance as I gave them my card number today and they ssaid 'is that miss kavanne?'... well, thanks, well done! And all they asked me was the last 3 digits of my home tel as security, not even DOB, how can that be enough?
Rediculous. I remember the last time I withdrew money from my bank account in a Halifax branch. All they wanted was my debit card and signature. I could have been anyone who found the card on the street and replicated the signature.
I think banks need to rethink the whole security structure. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Despite having a behaviour score of 73 with HSBC, they refuse to even give me a £50 overdraft, due to credit scoring. I've written a letter. I'm actually getting sick of them not giving me an overdraft. The reason I wanted a Halifax reward is because you are guaranteed the amount shown and it often changes. My barclays account never changed from £0 guaranteed, no matter if I ran £2k through it each month.0

LOL. They have all of these security implementations in place.. Chip & Pin, fancy fraud detection systems and the such.. yet they can't even provide the most basic of security when withdrawing cash in branch.
I think I might ask a family member to go into my branch, with my card, and withdraw cash just to prove a point to the bank and show how easy it can be done. We’ve had to remove your signature. If you have a score of 73 then you are guaramteed an overdraft mate so they are not telling you the right score.
I got my first o/d £200 with a score of 52 which was the start score for a cgc! So unless you are a student or something else stopping them from agreeing but i'd be writing to the main people
Hang on, i'll get you a contact who will sort this for you mate!John Hanrahan

Go for it mate, in fact just realised send the credit card appeal to that bloke not the bank one. The overdraft appeal should be sent to bank account plus at that address.
p.s. nice letter by the way, mention your behaviour score though! #7027
Ive a dded/changed a bit in red mate - this is similar to what I said in my CC appeal..... it worked for meDear HSBC:
Within the last few weeks, I have made an application online for an overdraft of £100, however the application was declined due to Credit Scoring. I monitor my credit report from both Equifax and Experian, and I have no adverse or bad data registered against me. The only negative aspect of my credit report is my limited credit history. All of my credit accounts have been paid on time, and no payments have been missed, as you can see from the credit check from when I applied for an overdraft.
I have attempted to go into my local branch to appeal the overdraft decision before writing to you, as posted on your website, however the local branch refused to even sit down and talk to me, let alone ask why I wanted an overdraft or other such questions. I was simply told they would not look into this and to try again in a few months.
I understand that you assess all prospective borrowers by how much of a risk they are, however I am unsure why you refused me being I have a very high internal behavioural score with HSBC and never miss any payments or go overlimit. Even the woman I spoke to on telephone banking seemed surprised at your declining me and suggested I write in an appeal. I am therefore certain that based on my existing accounts and behaviour score (in the 70's) you can see I am no risk whatsoever and agree to my simple request for a formal overdraft facility.
The account has been run perfectly, in credit with my salary paid in every month from my main job, as well as multiple other credits from my part-time job and DLA. I also have a regular and flexi savings account with you.
I would appreciate if you could reconsider your decision to decline me an overdraft facility on the basis that I have run my account very well and have been a good customer to HSBC. The reason I have asked for a small overdraft is to cover myself in the unlikely event that I need to cover a Direct Debit or payment before payday, or other such similar situations. I am also currently on a gap year before University in 2010, and would be looking to have a student account with you next year.
I hope you can reconsider your decision to offer me an overdraft facility.

never-in-doubt wrote: »I got my 2nd bank account and overdraft after 3 months but you learn the secrets mate, i.e. open a couple of savers accounts and set up a SO each month, have a lot of DD's and bill payments and have any CC's you have set up for DD - this shows them everything about you and helps the score build up.
For instance, spend using card is better than cash withdrawals because cash is untraceable (could be drugs/gambling) whereas visa debit card shows where you shop!
After 3 months you'll be in to 50's (score wise) assuming you do not bounce stuff or exceed o/d....
Aye NID, forgot to say thanks bud.
I remember you talking the above in another thread awhile ago, so I gave it a try with my RBS account. Then last week, after say 6 months or so from getting declined, I was accepted a £500 overdraft on my existing account and the same on a new account.
I didn't even have any direct debits on the account, although I used my card more or less everywhere I could; to pay off my CC and even for stamps and stuff. Plus I did alot of transfers from the Halifax account my income comes in.
So yeah, I'm proof it does work!0
