HSBC is one of the best for internal behaviour scoring. If you get a certain score you're almost guaranteed the product. Like me, I failed the CC application and appealed asking them to consider my existing banking with them and use my behaviour score (was in 70's and to get card you had to be at 60) so they reversed decision even though they added a cifas and have yet to remove it! Bizarre eh?

I also have an o/d on both accounts and a cgc on both bank accounts. o/d is £500 + £700 and my internal score is currently 82. I can apply for and get a loan of upto £23k.

You hear people say, if you bank with HSBC to go in and ask for account review and they do one enquiry (not a search) and based on this with your behaviour score they list what they will give you and the amounts! Its awesome if you run your accounts well...... :D

How long does it take then to build up a decent internal score? And how? Just run money through it each month?

Maybe I should go back to HSBC when I am sorted next year..... sounds like they have bucked up.

Elky, I suppose like most, they would prefer an income, however I know students do apply and some get given credit.

It is difficult to put on here NID - reason being I am aware that there are "spies" on the forum and I wouldnt want to jepordise my job without having a back up.

I got my 2nd bank account and overdraft after 3 months but you learn the secrets mate, i.e. open a couple of savers accounts and set up a SO each month, have a lot of DD's and bill payments and have any CC's you have set up for DD - this shows them everything about you and helps the score build up.

For instance, spend using card is better than cash withdrawals because cash is untraceable (could be drugs/gambling) whereas visa debit card shows where you shop!

After 3 months you'll be in to 50's (score wise) assuming you do not bounce stuff or exceed o/d.... :D

If I open one, I doubt I'd use it as my main bank account. It says you must have money getting paid into the account on a regular basis. Would they mind if I transferred my student loan each month (from my Halifax account), into the account, then transfer it back out?

I am unsure of barclaycard's dpa compliance as I gave them my card number today and they ssaid 'is that miss kavanne?'... well, thanks, well done! And all they asked me was the last 3 digits of my home tel as security, not even DOB, how can that be enough?

It shouldnt be really - should at least ask you part of your DOB, maybe certain letters from your password or mothers maiden name
