Check this out here as well:

    http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/advice/problemswithgoods.cfm

If you live in Scotland, there should be a link for that as well.

You could also right to Head office if Currys and see what they say, if they don't help in your rights then of course report them to your local trading standards and they should help on your behalf.;)

    Good luck.

  • All DSG staff (Curry's, Dixons and PC World) are either trained in telling the public with faulty goods that the warranty is for one year. They choose to know nothing about the Sale Of Goods Act and will give you the bum's rush given chance.

I got to the point of issuing paperwork for the Small Claims Court before they would replace a three month old laptop battery, claimed it was not covered by the warranty or SOGA. Numpty's!

Don't let them fob you off, a 16 month old washing machine that does not work is neither durable or fit for purpose!

  • Is it better to ring or go into the store and speak with the Manager ?

I would personally write to the head office, although a telephone call should do no harm, but at least in writing, keep a copy and you have this for evidence later on.

Will see if I can find some info for you.;)

    Found this here:

    http://www.currys.co.uk/store_doc/images/GE_Images/NU_custservices/complaints.html

Email them tonight now, and hopefully there will be some response by tomorrow, if these work over the weekends in the complaints department, tell them how unhappy you are with your washing machine - which by 16 months since purchase it no longer works, and how disappointed you are with the item, you wish them to deal with this matter by either refunding you, or offering you a brand new replacement of the same value or at least equivalent, with at least a year or 2 guarantee.

Make them aware that if they cannot resolve this matter, you will have no option but to sought advice on this matter to get this resolved for as quickly as possible.

Hopefully they will do this instantly.

  • I would suggest you go in tomorrow and speak to the assistant manager if possible. He is sufficiently far up the food chain to do what you want if you can persuade him to. The store manager is more likely to dig his heels in because anything that detracts from the store bottom line affects him more personally.

Also the store manager will probably be doing something he considers more important than serving an angry punter so he will be less well disposed to helping!

Saturday is a good day to complain as the store will be busy and slightly raised voices making a complaint will soon gain an audience.

  • Aren't you all fab thank you so much will write to head office I think, I am not good with confrontation at all !
