I am sure this house is jinxed , my washing machine is only 16 months old its a Hotpoint machine purchased from Currys, it only comes with 1 year warrently so phoned Hotpoint they said they could come out and the charge would be £99 including labour and parts if he fixes it then fine if he can't then no money back the other option is to take their £15.99 a month insurance for 10 months said that was a lot so he said £12.99. So after umming and ahhing I agreed to the £12.99 a month as if it broke again it would be covered for a year. But some people have said I should just get a new machine, it is a great machine I think its just the belt drive but can anyone give me advice ? The repair is booked for Monday but can cancel.
Sorry if it is the wrong board but didn't know where else to post.
On a more cheery note I managed to get Virgin media down from £40 to £23.45 a month woo hoo thats Large internet and talk unlimited yay and leaves us with freeview. :j
Thanks

Hi hun
Me again......:D
Just a thought, but do you have house contents insurance?
This may cover for your washing machine?
Sorry to hear of this.
I would also double check as well on your policy for this machine, some even go for 2 years.;)
Good luck.

Hi hun,
Tried the contents insurance doesn't cover wear and tear :0( not impressed it happened just after my last load so at least all the washing is done, inlaws are away so can use there but not the point just wondering whether we could just get a new machine !

I'd consider taking it back to curry's and waving the Sale of Goods Act under their nose. A washing machine should surely last longer than that?Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

I agree, and was thinking that as well, and if Currys does not agree, maybe contact Trading Standards, what do you think? The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Yes what is the practical expectation for the life of a washing machine?
16months would not be my expectation, 5 years is more like it and even then I'd feel short changedKarma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Yes you are right first thing tomorrow I will be on the phone to Currys. I will cancel the call out and the direct debit.
Thank You :0)0
