Richmond Tart is another name for maids of honour
But I found this site on English cakes - it really is worth a look even if it is only for a bit of nostalgia and they call them London cheesecakes

Thanks guys, I;d already checked out those websites before I posted on here ... phoned the Baker this morning to be told they are called ... .London Cheesecakes! I am guessing my Mum made up a totally different name which is why no-one else knows them by that ... wish I could just remember what she called them, she hasn't got a clue either!0

You could well be right. I haven't seen any since I moved to Hampshire, but used to see them in every baker's when I lived in Surrey. I really want one now, too!Back after a very long break!0
