my "friend" announced last week she was engaged, pregnant and getting married before the baby is born, all a rush job, and she has obviously listened to everything h2b and i have said about our wedding plans, as today she announced that she has decided to do everything exactly the same!!! she is using the same venue as us, same package as us, same companies as us for dresses/suits/cake! and cos shes getting married before us its going to look like we're the ones with no imagination!!:mad: oh and she has smugly announced that they have more money to spend than we do as they think the basic package that we've gone for is going to be too "obviously cheap"!!! shes the biggest chav i know!
i dont know what to do, i spent ages finding somewhere for us that wasnt where one of our friends had used and that was pretty much the only affordable place we could use. i really didnt want to use a hall for the reception but its our only option left now. we do share quite a few mutual friends so it will be noticed if we have our weddings in the same place.
i'm tempted to send out a load of save the date cards (which i think are a waste of money and i wasnt going to bother with them) super quick so people know who really got there first!

And breathe! Its okay, it will still be 'your' day. Your family and friends will know you thought of it first, as clearly you have spoke about it enough for her to pick up all your planning. Be the bigger person and pat yourself on the back for making such great wedding plans, that she needed to pinch them all
(and send the Save the Day, it will make you feel better
) :rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -
OMG! You have my sympathy. I would hate that. I would get your save the date cards out. Some people would think its petty, but I would do it.
Can i say if its a rush job that i hope something goes wrong, or is that bad wedding Karma? I dont want to upset the weddings gods, but I think she is totally out of order.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -
I'd send the STD cards immediately - but i can be quite vindictive

i would send them lol and make sure they have your colour theme on them, even better.
I'd find it really difficult to invite her to the wedding now if that was me.. but i NEVER forget things and seeing her would wind me up. On the other hand if her wedding turns out crap you have the upper hand as you can make yours even better lol.0 -

If you log on to vistaprint, play with a couple of designs then wait a few days you'll get inundated with special offers. We got 100 postcards for save the dates free (only paid for postage).
Seriously, I wouldn't worry, your wedding will be YOUR wedding and completely different from hers and the mutual friends won't for a minute think they're the same ( I suspect they'll be too busy looking for the shotguns at hers and trying to see if the bouquet is hiding the bump! lol).
Just take a deep breath, smile and don't tell her anything else!!! xxx0 -
Definately send the cards!! I would

She's obviously a dull person who lacks any ideas of her own (on the up side you must have great taste as she's so eager to copy you
) She has acted like a crappy friend but hold your head high, get the cards sent and concentrate on having a fantastic, romantic day. And anyway, if she's a chav..well, you can't buy class.
Remember..it's your day and you will make it your own!"I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderful."
