When you get to the "how much would you like" stage it will tell you how much they would give you but only if it is a lot more than what you have at the moment. When I've applied at this point I haven't been credit checked. The amount is part of the writing above the amount box, and is normal size so easy to miss.

When I've tried applying for an overdraft and it doesn't tell me how much, I've been credit checked and can be hit or miss whether I'm approved.

This worked for me. Helped out as not recorded another Credit Search against my file..so far as I can see..which is a relief.

On the other-hand applied and got rejected for a Halifax Credit card and it recorded three searches!!
  • How do you cancel/get rid an overdraft , is there a way to do it online or i have to ring them up ?

Do they do checks on you when you ask to remove an overdraft?
  • I can't see any 'Pre-approved amount for me', all I get is this...............

    Overdraft Requirements

Please enter the total overdraft limit you require on your account: (£) The new limit will replace any existing limit, if applicable.

If the figure entered is less than your current limit, your overdraft facility will be reduced.

And does this mean that I have already been credit searched by getting to this stage ?.

They can search you after you have clicked past the 'your personal data' script so yes you may have already been searched

    Hi,

Do you know which CRA Natwest will use to increase an overdarft limit?

Just tried to increase my overdraft and it was instant declined unfortunately.

Equifax are the CRA named on the decline letter that prints at branch.
  • am a new Natwest customer and really want an overdraft (£300-400 only) but they say I not meet internal something or other markers. What does this mean and how does it improve? I have switched from Halifax... \any input as to how natwest operate will be gratefully received. I have 2 current plus accounts:confused::confused::confused::confused:

I'm no pro on these matters but I would take a guess that you do not have a high enough internal score with the bank in question. You may also not have managed the account properly/or have a short history with the bank. Your credit score may also be not adequate enough.

If you just switched from Halifax then that may be your answer.

    Those are some factors.

That's ok then - from my experience not many bank search equifax. I dont have any problem with my credit history but i think i did not had enough internal score with them.
