Dent in Wing - What should I do?

The reason for blending in is that every sprayer will get a slightly different colour depending on their technique and kit. Blending means fading out the new colour over the adjacent panels then laquering over both. Tcut will not vahge the colour untill you have destroyed the top coat. Its a nono apart from taking minot scratches out of the replacement wing
Was the original dent made by Thor's mighty hammer by any chance
PS quoted price seems right for a good job on a mettallic car
I visited a scrapyard and have managed to find wing of the same colour. There are a few scuffs of which only one seems to have reached the paint. It cost £46 and when compared to getting a professional repair costing 7 times as much, the choice to buy it was a no brainer.
The colour looks identical but I will reserve my judgement until I actually put the wing on but am very optimistic. This just leaves the small scratches on the replacement wing. I am hoping t-cutting will improve most of them and maybe use some touch up paint for the deeper one. After using touch up what is the best way to finish it off? T-cut again maybe?
After finding out how much it would have cost to get it fixed professionally, I am not too surprised that the culprit did a runner!0 -

Try to avoid spraying if at all possible, you will have exactly the same issues you would have done with the original wing. If you did paint you would have to apply laquer over colour as explained before. Get the t cut to work, should be fine on old paint/laquer, but go too deep. Any scratches if not through the paint are probably best left, or filled with a touch up pen or laquer penI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Laquer is on top of the paint.
So any scratches not reaching through to the paint can be eliminated by t-cutting right? If the paint is scratched then touch up paint followed by laquer and finished off by t-cutting is the way to go or is it?cyclonebri1
And cyclonebri1, trust me I have given up any hope of respraying the wing myself.
Did not know there were laquer pens though. Thanks for that tip!0 -

Yes. If you by a touch up kit from say Halfords it contains primer pen/brush, colour coat and top laquer coat.
Get the wing on, polish it up then see how it looksI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Nearly £300 for a wing sprayed and fitted sounds expensive to me. New wings for a Mazda 6 are pretty cheap (less than £40 a side) and for a small bodyshop to spray a wing you should be looking at between £60 and £80 so worst case you should be looking at less than £150 including VAT although you would need to fit it then although they are only bolt on so no massive problem.0

At the end of the day at lease I feel a little better shelling out only £46 + whatever the touch up paint costs and fitting a 2nd hand wing myself.0 -
