My local bodyshop repairs and repaints wings for about £250 - 300.

I had a scratched front bumper repaired and repainted and it was undetectable. If your car is worth anything then I would suggest this is the way to go.

OP, how old is the car?

If your looking at wings from a scrap yard one could assume it's of some age. In that case can you live with the dent?
It's not new but not very old either. About 5 years old so can be classed as middle age I suppose. I am drawn to respraying it myself but realise that it could be tricky to match the colour exactly to the rest of the car. I really need to find one at the scrappers to avoid all this I suppose. I'm not usually very proud but this dent is extremely noticeable.

With no disrespect if you try the DIY route, from what I can gather experience wise from your post, you will make a complete "bo*****" of it, probably devaluing what is not an old car. Stick it out in the hope you can find a wing that doesn't need paint, or get someone to do it properly.

Have you done a search on one of the net parts finding sites? You punch in your details and the dealers contact you with details of price/del etc.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

    No disrepect taken cyclonebri1.
I figure I will be taking a gamble by buying in the required sprays and paints to di iy myself. I can always get it done professionally if I do mess it up.

Just thought I would post a little update.
One of my possible avenues has been closed down. I went to a vehicle bodyshop to get an estimate and have been quoted £290 so that's out of the question for me then! The price includes blending(I think it costs about 60 quid less without) and consists of 8 hours labour and £90 materials(metallic paint). I am going to wait and get a second hand wing that is the same colour and t-cut the hell out of it and the car door to try and get a sort of blend going. If it still looks a bit mismatched I guess I will just have to live with it.

Steady Thor, lay off the tcut. Metallic paint is laquer over base coat. The reason for blending in is that every sprayer will get a slightly different colour depending on their technique and kit. Blending means fading out the new colour over the adjacent panels then laquering over both. Tcut will not vahge the colour untill you have destroyed the top coat. Its a nono apart from taking minot scratches out of the replacement wing:confused:

Was the original dent made by Thor's mighty hammer by any chance ;)

PS quoted price seems right for a good job on a mettallic car ;)

Nice to know my local bodyshop is in the right ball park.

Personally I think an aerosol repair on a wing will look every bit as bad as a dent, particularly in metallic paint.

If you are planning on keeping the car any length of time I would do nothing.

If you want to sell it soon pay for the professional repair.
