Just been, I need to fax them more paperwork about my employment and mortgage, echo's the comments someone else stated on here, should have taken them with me to be sure, I can just fax it back though0
-
So is it all ok, subject to you sending the info they want? Will you have to go back again? Sounds promising though.0

Yes, it's not all about terrorism, mostly it's about making sure that you have a reason to go home at the end of the holiday.
Good luck

Forgot to take a special delivery envelope so had to do a 40 minute round trip walk to the nearest PO, must have spent about 2 hours walking round belfast yesterday, was so knackered by the end didn't feel up to doing any sight-seeing!
I'll keep you all updated no doubt...0 -
As I have a criminal record (albeit for a minor offence) it is obvious I will have to face a delay in processing of my application.
It is interesting that some posts suggest going to Belfast to speed up the process.
Do we ring the American Embassy in London to book an appointmet or Belfast?Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
It's a general number that will give you appointments for either. I think it was about 4-6 weeks earlier then London when I booked. Went there on a cheap flight and was a nice day trip! Make sure you take proof of employment with you and items related to your home, as well as a pre-paid special delivery envelope.0

Just to let you all know I got my Visa! I faxed off all the paperwork a few days later and they issued and sent it out on the 17th, well pleased, it's valid for a year so I supposed I could go again early next year if I wanted to save all the hassle again.
I thought I might not have got it as I went America about 4 years ago and apparently was supposed to get a visa then but never did and they seemed a bit annoyed about that but luckily didn't make too much of a difference.0 -
glad to hear it all worked out (and much faster than expected!!):happyhear0

Good news Willis, how come it's only valid for a year though, mine is for 10 years and I thought that was the norm ?0

pompeyrich - Not sure, I forgot to ask at the time but thought it was just the standard?
melancholly - thanks! Much better then the up to 16 weeks they advised at the time, took about 3 weeks from appointment date, I did start the whole process around early May.0
