Damn, they told me I needed to fill in and bring another form but can't remember which!? Don't want to call again (only a last resort) and wast more money, think it was a V-1 or V-01? Anyone know or help a little?0

Willis - Do you REALLY need to go through this palaver ?
This ridiculous visa situation is putting off a lot of people who want to visit / work in the US.
I'm just back from a World tour and deliberately missed the States. The ignorant bullying at Immigration and the assumption that you are some kind of criminal led me to go to other more frindly countries where I met reasonable officials and a genuine welcome.
I won't be going to the States again if I can help it.
Good luck.

What effect does a police caution (only a year old
) have on a trip to the States? The website isn't clear.
I have a 'machine readable' passport and my understanding is that at the moment I don't need a Visa, however I wouldn't want to turn up at US Immigration only to get turned back!FB :heartpuls Wiggly

I had to do this, i ended up flyign to BElfast to the American Embassy there as i only had to wait 4 weeks for a interview appointment compared with 16 weeks with an interview in London. I got a cheep return flight from BMI baby, nd was there and back in a day. it woudl have cost me more travelling to London.
As far as the interview goes, my interview lasted all of 3 minutes, she told me there and then i had got my visa, took my passport, and i had it back by special delivery ( you have to take one of those envelopes) 2 days later. The only problem is i just got married if i want to change my passport to my married name i have to go through the whole process again.0 -

Were you arrested prior to the caution? If so you will need a visa.
HINT: you could have a great holiday in Canada, or in Mexico, and not suffer this process.0 -

I'd rather not but don't want to take the risk as if I get caught I get deported and banned from America.
Anyway found out which form it was - a VCU-010 -
Fingers crossed, appointment tomorrow! If they decide to give me a visa and take my passport, how do I get home?! Will I need my driving license as ID?
Got my papers off the NIS, rung them up to query it the other week and it arrived the date that they said it would, my name was spelt wrong though?!0 -
Good luck for tomorrow Willis, sure it will be ok, as I said earlier they sem more concerned that you intend to come home rather than the offence.
Would be an idea to take your driving licence as you will need photo ID to fly home, if they do keep your passport, they might be able to do it there and then though.
Again fingers crossed and let us know how it goes0 -

I guess so, you don't need a passport to fly to Belfast (within the UK) [or even ROI as I recall]. Just photo ID, if you have driving licence that's probably ok.student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0
