Really feel for you LA :grouphug:
Being burgled is a terrible thing to happen, your home is your sanctuary from the outside world, when it's invaded like this you feel it's a personal attack, remember it's not, clean everything if it helps, but don't do anything silly like I did and move, that didn't help me one bit and felt the thieving b******s won.

Dear LA i am so sorry to hear about what has happened, if you need anything even if its just to let of a bit of steam you know you can contact me.:grouphug:
We used to live in a troubled area and for some reason our back garden seemed to be public property to the local hoods, it was constantly broken into, damaged and i became a bit of a wreck but the real breaking point came when i was heavily pregnant with my last child, it was tea time and i was in the house alone with tow young kids and a group tried to kick my backdoor in, i was terrified. It was sort of sorted out but i never slept easy in that house again and try as i might not to let them win i was very glad when we moved last year.
They have no idea of the real damage they do and if you need to spend to help you feel safe then you do what ever you need to, you deserve to feel safe in your own home and that is worth the cost.
I loved your idea of a DFW security thread has anyone started it yet?
All my thoughts are with you.

:rotfl: :rotfl: lol!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: That really cracked me up!! Thanks vixxen.
And thanks QueenB, I appreciate that very much.
Thankfully the little street I live in is usually trouble free - I feel so sorry that you had to go through that very scary experience.
I used to live on one of the worse council estates in my old city (although it's all relative i.e. a pretty bad council estate in Cambridge is going to be paradise compared to the worst council estate in, I dunno, Sao Paolo!) however in 22 years we never had a bean of trouble - we even left a spare back door key in the shed! You'd never be able to do that now anywhere, not even a posh area!
Times have changed - and not for the better in this case. :mad:Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Hi LA, Hope life is abit more settled now. So sorry to hear your news (not been on here for a while).
We were burgled a few years back - were coming through the front door as they ran down the stairs. Just missed them (OH and his friend weren't as quick getting through the back window after the little s**ts)
On the funny side, we had only recently moved in and the police were appalled that the burglars had made so much mess and damage - until i told them that - no the house usually looked like this as we were renovating :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
We managed to get quite a good cheap burglar alarm and motion sensors from argos - fitted it ourselves, and made a point of letting neighbourhood scrotes see us change locks on doors for proper heavy duty ones, and fitting alarm/testing, etc. No futher problems.
One word of caution though. For a short while after it happened i would double lock all the doors before going to bed, etc. Then realised we would be in real trouble if there was ever a fire in the house.
So peeps, please be careful and make sure you leave keys somewhere you can find them quickly in the dark/emergency.
HUGSWhat's he building in there???
